Advice on best toothpaste please

Has anyone found a cheap, eg own brand, toothpaste which is as good as the big name brands? I tried Boots own brand but it tasted sort of chalky and my family didn't like it. I usually buy Mentadent SR which is OK at 99p for a biggish (100ml) tube, but I noticed while I was in Tesco this evening (stocking up on marked down bread!) that they have a value one which was really cheap. Anyone tried it?

I use the one from Netto...costs 35p (I think) for a big tube. It is a bit 'chalky' but I quite like that...and anyway I do the bi-carb thingy (dip toothpasted brush into bi-carb for teeth whitening.hth♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0

I used to buy the Tesco own label one, not value. Taste was fine but I found that the kids left the lid off which made the toothpaste all gluey and they couldnt then squeeze the paste through the hole at the top! Nightmare. LOL

I use the Lidl one designed for "more mature gums". Can't say anything bad about it, but it might not appeal to someWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

i always use whitning toothpaste, like colgate whitning, usually over £2, but i stock up when they are on offer. The BOGOFS on them come round regularly in all the supermarkets and boots superdrug etc.

I now use the Asda own-brand one - 39p and the lid is attached so theres no excuses about leaving it off!! (Tried Tesco value - chalky, and Boots value, it was so watery you were lucky to keep it on your brush!)Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0

In ASDA the more "flashy" Colgate toothpastes are about £1.80 for a large tube, but the basic white Colgate is only 88p, so I always get this one.
They all have fluoride etc in them anyway and are approved by the BDA. I think it's more how you brush your teeth and how often and whether you smoke or drink lots of tea etc. that makes the difference (not how many different colour stripes your toothpaste has).

I use the Superdrug value paste which is about 49p a tube, it's got flouride in it. It does have a somewhat chalky feel and is quite strong tasting, but otherwise ok. I drink a lot of tea and smoke a pipe so my teeth are pretty yellow. Bicarb does seem to get them a bit whiter though.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.'
