Thanks focus and jansus. Well done cheeky. Good luck focus for saturday.

I have a buffet lunch provided for me today, so in order that I don't pic at it I have had a hearty breakfast and take food I can point so if it is all sandwiches and quiche slices I can just be full from breakfast and have an apple, plus I have a fab dinner planned so it shouldn't be too bad

    Evening All

Ok so i am coming to end of my first week and i might be being abit dim but i am wondering if anyone can help me with calculating point.

How do you do it for stuff that you don't know the points value for. I have read the first page and can't get my head around it.

For example if I want lets say 17g of cheese. All I know is the values for 100g what do I do. (just so you have working example)

17gs of cheese with 416kcal and 21.7g sat fats per 100g now what?

Help, apologies if i am being blonde and thanks x

the easiest formula is calories/70 + sat fat/4

    so 416/7 = 6 (round up to nearest .5)
    21.7/4 = 5.5

    6+5.5 = 11.5pts per 100g

divide by 100 to give pts value per gram, and then multiply by how many grams you are having

    = 1.95pts (so round up to 2pts)

i cant do these sums in my head, but when going round supermarket looking at foods, ive usually got my mobile phone with me, and they all have calculators on them

Wow!!!What fab inspiration for my official start date. Went to my first meeting today. I must be honest, aside from the little talk and extra challenge questions directed at the group, the leader didnt really give me any new info . She weighed me (14stones 8 pounds), she said she could convert it to kilos for me if it would be easier but it would be easier for her if I worked in stones. Anyway, my first goal is 13.2, so if I calculated right thats 10 pounds? Im useless at the metric system so Ill have some extra learning to do,but I think I dont mind because if Im right, my results will look bigger in stones than in kilos so Im seeing that as a bonus.

There are 14 pounds in a stone so your total weight in pounds is 204lb. Your goal is to lose 1 stone 6lb, or 20lb. That is a lot for a first target! Usually they go for 5% of your bodyweight as a first target, in your case this would be about 10lb taking you down to around 13 stone 12.

    Good luck!

My first weigh-in today. I know you guys all seem to eat afterwards but I have to go straight off and see a friend so I'll be having my dinner before hand, can't see that it's going to make too much difference though!

Edit: You ARE useless at the metric system... this is imperial! ;)

This is 10% of your body weight, they do normally start you with 5%...how strange

Thanks Superfran I told you Im useless. Imperial, imperial, imperial-its in my head now. I think I typed too fast because it is 13.12. So I did calculate it right.Hubby had a right giggle because he was telling me how to convert it back to kilos in case I wanted to. He was saying how I seem to have picked up the points formula quite quickly so why couldnt I get my head round this. I think Ive got it now. Did I mention I didnt take maths at school? My standard 7 results were so bad they wouldnt let me do it past that :o

Hehe well it's always good to have someone with a maths a-level around, although I can barely add up these days.

13stone 12lb seems far more reasonable, and if you stay positive and stick to it you'll have that off in a month easy.
