Evening All
Ok so i am coming to end of my first week and i might be being abit dim but i am wondering if anyone can help me with calculating point.
How do you do it for stuff that you don't know the points value for. I have read the first page and can't get my head around it.
For example if I want lets say 17g of cheese. All I know is the values for 100g what do I do. (just so you have working example)
17gs of cheese with 416kcal and 21.7g sat fats per 100g now what?
Help, apologies if i am being blonde and thanks x1vs 100 £505500/335.25 (5.5K COMING DOWN)20.00/10,000(10K GOING UP)Not long now0 -
Im still looking for the formula to calculate points per 100g (one thats not disputed as the one on the first page is-confusion between uk v us) - but if I recall you said you got a points calculator? If that is the case, Id work it out per 100g first, then divide that by however many 17g goes into 100g (using your example).
So if I use the calculator on the site to calculate 416kcal and 21.7g sat fats per 100g, I get the result 11.5 points. Now if you divide 100 by 17 you get 5.88, so divide 11.5 (your points per 100g) by 5.88 (the amount of times 17 can go into 100), the answer you get is 1.95 ( so round up to nearest 10 and you have 2 points per 17g).
Of course if you do use the sites calculator, the last box asks for serving size. If you enter 17g there you get 2 also. (But since I dont have the little pocket calculator, I dont know if it has that option. Once I have found the formula from ww itself, I'll come back to you with that portion.
And to update my day, I had sensible food-vitality breakfast, sandwich for lunch and a small pork steak with a handful of oven chips. Did better on the water intake (Im on 1 litre right now) than I ever do, plus I had a few cups of black tea with candarel, which I rather enjoyed. It turned into more of a planning day when I discovered something amazing on my lappy. Because of my work (and partly my personal life) I have a recipe software package on called bigoven. Well I discovered an entire recipe box with ww recipes (with points shown), so Im working on a proper meal plan now.0 -

If you have 17g and it gives you calories/sat fat per 100g, get a calculator and multiply both by 0.17 and look that up using the little handy points chart or this site http://mywn.co.uk/points/0

Having said all that, I went back to the first page and used your figures and both the example formulas there. With the one using bracket addition I got the total 6.484 per 100g and the second one 6.910 per 100g, so I dont think either of those are right (looking at the side bar calculator on the ww site). I haven't been to a meeting yet, my first one is on Thursday-so I plan to ask then. I'm all for shortcuts and automatic calculations-but when technology fails-I like to know that I can engage brain:)0

Heya Everyone....
How is everyone getting on, Im currently very hungry but thats because its weigh in night for me so I dont have tea till I get home. I sneaked a peak on my scales this morning so hope the weight watchers one say the same as Id be happy then!!
I tried making my porridge with water yesterday at work so that I could have the chocolate out my calendar - Im only in the office max three days a week so only having it when Im in the office and work out two chocs is half a point so by having water instead of skimmed milk it would be ok (LOL) and i couldnt even taste the difference!!!0 -
