    Hi

I don't understand the point system, i can't join because i'm ok for my height but want to maintain my weight because i've joined Curves to keep toned up but don't want to lose weight through it.

Can someone explain to me how to use the point system please? :D

basically the points system means all items of food has a points value, for instance 40g of pasta (dried) is 2 points, an apple is 0.5 pts etc, to loose weight you do the calculation i posted in above posts, however to maintain, once you have lost the weight, you add 6 points to the points you were on when you lost, so for example if you want to loose weight and the points calculator means and presumably are on 18 points when you hit your goal weight (just as an example) to maintain your weight, you add 6 points (so would be on 24) however to increase the points you do it gradually, our leader recommends upping the points over a 6 to 10 week period

so as an example if my goal weight loosing points i finished on was 17, i would eventually go up to 23 points per day, however wk 1 on maintaining i would have 18 points, week 2 on maintainging 19 points and so on until week 6 when i am on 23 points (however if you find you start gaining before hitting that, that may be your body telling you not to add any more

Thankyou for that anna, that was a great help. I worked out i'd be 19 points, is that alot of food?

it depends on what you eat, and the points values, for instance if you go out for a meal reguarly etc then no its not a lot, but if you have a lot of healthier food then yes, also pleanty of vegitables are 0 points, so you can eat more of that

there are some good unofficial sites with point listings which you may want to look at

I had my first weigh in on Monday. Thought I couldn't have lost any weight as I have struggled to actually eat the 26 points! However, I managed to lose 4lbs. Is it normal to loose a lot in the first week or so and then slow down a bit?
yes it can be, a lot do loose more the first couple of week, my first week i lost 6.5lbs

How did everyone do on the walk to oz challenge, i didnt do as well as i had hoped, but considering i work in an office and am on my bum from 9-5 i didnt do too bad (plus i go swimming before work any way so at least i am getting some exercise in)

any way here is my totals for the week

    sunday 18th 4049 steps, 1.61 miles
    monday 19th 9265 - 3.65 miles
    tuesday 20th 7195 steps - 2.83 miles
    wednesday 21st - 8166 steps, 3.22 miles
    thursday 33nd 7169 - 2.81 miles
friday 23rd - 7753 - 3.05 (however i took it off at 6pm as i went to a concert, and didnt want to wear it, so i estimate i actually walked at least another 1500 steps if not more)

    Hi all
Started at Weight Watchers last week, have chosen the points option anyway, had my weigh in today and lost 4lb :j Think it may have helped that the weigh in was in the morning rather than the usual evening!

Have joined using a monthly pass as it appears to be cheaper and liked the idea of getting the online esource stuff for free with this payment option.

Is there any good place to go to get some ideas of how to make smart choices with points eg.
x strawberry yoghurt is 1 point; y strawberrt yoghurt is 3! or such like.

To be honest - I'm probably thinking more/planning for when I go wild and want a bag of crisps or a bar of chocolate - What are the better options points wise? (I appreciate abstinence is best but I'm only too human).

    Hi

Can I ask what are your points "bargains" ...

The delicious veggie soup that fills you up? The sweet option that gives you that kick for minimal points?

    Hi

I know mine is definitely the WW Salmon Broccoli Wedge Melt - it's gorgeous and I would eat it even if not on the WW diet?

Do any other WW/diet foods rock your boat - allow you to have great food for minimal points.

What foods would you continue to eat even if not counting points/on WW diet?

They do, and it finished on the 24th of May :undecided

I think they do monthly passes now? So that'll work out a bit cheaper than paying every week.

I'm sure her leader will be able to advise her of the most economical way :)

I'm sure you'll get others along who'll say don't eat as much  Ignore them :)

Good luck to your girlfriend :T
