    aparently if everyone walks 1.5 miles next week, the distance covered collectivly is the same as walking from london to canberrra in australia 30 times!

    Well I walked about 5 miles today - dropped my car off for MOT and walked home. Totally exhausted. Didn't count the steps though, I'm not so chuffed with the constant sales pitch at the meetings e.g ' you can get £1 off the pedometer today only'!!

    Hey everyone,

    I joined this site a while ago to use The Cambridge Diet thread, and found it helped alot.

    I am 22, 5'9, size 10 and weigh 10 stone. I started the CD around 3 months ago when I had hit 12.7 stone. I did sole source, which is basically 3 milkshakes a day and consuming only 480 calories a day, hence the quick weightloss. However I didn't do it at weekends because I would have gone mad. I still ate healthy and didn't binge drink, and was told it was a no-no on here.. however I still lost over 2 stone and didn't loose my social life. So i'm pleased.

    However I am now coming to the end of my CD and really don't want to put any weight back on, I'd love to stay at 10 stone (or ideally get down to 9 1/2 ) and knowing me I need a strict routine and some structure, otherwise nothing will work. So I am just wondering weather I would be accepted onto WW? As I know I am not over weight and my BMI is healthy, however I would only use it to maintain weightloss, not to loose loads more. I don't like size zero, believe me!

    Also, if I were to be accepted, what would be best for me; points or core? After the CD even a bit of salad and chicken will be a huge treat to me, so I don't have a problem with needing certain things. Well.. maybe carbs.. don't we all?! Also I love to have a drink at the weekends, very usually Friday, Saturday AND a small bit on a Sunday!:beer: I don't know if alcahol is forbidden on core? I know you can save points for it though.

    Any queries answered would be great, thankyou in advance. Xxx

    if you have a look at the official site www.weightwatchers.co.uk that will give you info on the minimum joining weight,

    as for points vs core, i personally do the points plan as i prefer the freedome of eating what i want and points are easy to work out in the long run, alcohol is not banned on core as such, but is not a "core item" along with core foods you are given points over a week (21 i think) which you can use how you wish for none "core" items, ie alcohol, treats etc etc

    where as points you get a daily allowance, calculated questions below, and all food items and drinks have a points value (though there are some 0 point items) and you add the points up over the day to your points allowance:

    These are the questions-

    Are you:
    Female = Score 3
    Male = Score 9

    Are you a breastfeeding mother?
    No = Score 0
    Yes, breastfeeding exclusively = Score 10
    Yes, supplementing breastfeeding with solid foods = Score 5

    How old are you?
    16 - 20 = Score 5
    21 - 35 = Score 4
    36 - 50 = Score 3
    51 - 65 = Score 2
    Over 65 = Score 1

    How many stones do you weigh?
    Ignore the lb, the number of stones is your score for this question. Someone who weights 12st 4lb will score 12

    How tall are you?
    Under 5ft 4ins = Score 1
    5ft 4ins or above = Score 2

    In your day to day life are you:
    Sitting down most of the time = Score 0
    Occasionally sitting, but mainly standing = Score 2
    Walking most of the time = Score 4
    Doing physically hard work most of the time = Score 6

    You should retake this quiz if you drop down to the next stone bracket
    or if you have a birthday which takes you to the next age bracket.

    I had my first weigh in on Monday. Thought I couldn't have lost any weight as I have struggled to actually eat the 26 points! However, I managed to lose 4lbs. Is it normal to loose a lot in the first week or so and then slow down a bit?
  • Thankyou for that anna, that was a great help. I worked out i'd be 19 points, is that alot of food?

    Just got back from weigh-in. I was dreading going as we went out last night for a few drinks, but I have lost 2 lb making 2st in total since I started in January. I will try and be careful until next week just in case it comes back on.

    Good luck to everyone.

    Hi

    I don't understand the point system, i can't join because i'm ok for my height but want to maintain my weight because i've joined Curves to keep toned up but don't want to lose weight through it.

    Can someone explain to me how to use the point system please? :D
