I've only ever done points and have always found it really easy to follow. I think the thing that puts me off core is that you have a very limited range of things you can snack on between meals and although I eat 3 meals a day, I also build in snacks so that my blood sugar level doesn't dip. I prefer the flexibility of points, but as I've never done core I couldn't say that either one of them is better than the other.

Why not see how you go this week...if you're still finding it difficult give the points a go? Good luck - it'll soon click.

I stayed the same this week - although as there was no meeting last Monday it's showing on my card as a 2lb loss!! Not bad, especially as I'd been a bad girl and not followed the plan as well as I should have....

Hope everyone is going OK - my new favourite sandwich is ham and tomato - only 3.5 points, so can't be bad!! My exercise effort is ramping up - I'm doing the Race for Life on 8 June...only problem is that on the days I run I can't seem to stop eating

    Take care
    D.
  • I recently bought a WW recipe book and plan to diet using this. Just wondered if you could tell me how successful the points system was for you - I would like to lose a stone in 2-3 months, does that seem realistic based on your experience?

Also do you have any idea about the points value for:
    - a bowl of cereal, e.g. Special K
    - a slice of bread/toast?

    Thanks

Just got back from meeting - only lost 1/2 lb this week. Still better than last week I stuck.

Does anyone have any idea how many points there are in a Somerfield Healthy Choice Beef Lasagne. Hope its not too many.

    Cheers - Pam

points is really easy once you get the hang of it, plus you have the free slider to calculate points, and i find the electronic one you can get at the meetings, is a god send, i also use the esource facilities on the web site and you just type the name of the item you are wanting points for and it usually has it listed

i have not done core so cant really comment on it, but points definatly works, have a look at the official ww site forum, there is a lot about both points and core on there that can help you decided

however you will need to stick with core for the first week, as they dont recommend swapping between the 2 mid week,

Well, I went along for the first time ever on Monday and weigh a shocking 14st (6ft tall though).

I have 26 points to get through a day and I am really struggling to eat all them! Previously I ate no breakfast, sometimes no lunch (perhaps a packet of crisps) and a big tea with a few glasses of wine. So I think my body is in shock!

Any advice/tips would be good. I bought a month pass so that I can use the eSource which is great. Could you advise which books to buy? Are the food weighing scales worth buying too?

Hi there, I haven't been on since last week, weighed tonite and only lost 1 lb - bit disappointed as I thought I've been pretty good this week.
    Oh well keep trying eh?
I can get e -source and I'm off work tomorow so I'll have a right good look through it.
The leader introduced us to the walking week or whatever it's called - and I'm really into keeping fit - except I've hurt my ankle and have been told to rest it!

i have not bothered with the scales a they are expensive, as long as you get good digital scales you can work out the points yourself no problem, at £30/£40 for kitchen scales i think it is a lot, escpecially as i picked up a decent set for £13 from atgos

as for books, if you like cooking, definatly get the ww cook book

if you go out a lot i would also recommend the eating out guide, the shopping guide is also useful. i bought mine as a set which came with these two, plus the journal, which i use to track my points on a daily basis

try and eat all your points as if you dont your body can go into starvation mode, fand can reduce weight lossor example if you have skimmed or semi skimmed milk, go back to full fat milk whilst your points are higher, and then go back to the others as your points drop as you loose weight.
