aaaaargh i need some help staying on track!
(warning: mini-rant approaching)
my friend is coming over tonight for a sleepover ( we're like little kids! ) and if our entire friendship is anything to go by, this will involve chattering, watching bad films and EATING LOADS.
i haven't told her about weight watchers (i haven't told anyone except the boyf and you lot!) ... i don't know... maybe some kind of defence mechanism. hmm.
anyway my weigh in is tomorrow and i'm already dreading it because my weight is fluctuating wildly. i know you're not meant to weigh every day, but lets face it. some of us can't help ourselves
i can't skip another weigh in!

If you want to stick to your diet tonight, I don't think you've got any option other than to tell her.
She sounds like a good friend, so I'm sure she'll be supportive of you if you were to explain to her that you can't binge like the old times. You never know, she might have lots of ideas of her own. Maybe tell her before she arrives in case she comes armed with popcorn etc. I don't know if you're the same but I can't even have that stuff in the house otherwise I'll eat it!
I don't like telling people I'm on a diet either and I also feel quite defensive about it. But I've found the better you are at dieting, the less you can hide it and you end up in all sorts of conversations with people who want to give you their tuppenceworth about whether they think you should be on a diet or not. I think people are often uncomfortable when they hear someone is dieting as they don't know how they should react. If they say 'good for you' it's like telling the person they're fat, however it's really annoying when well-meaning people say 'oh you don't need to be on a diet' when the person clearly does (I have actually whapped out my jelly belly at this comment on several occassions, lol. There's no arguing with my jelly belly).
Perhaps just explain that you don't like talking about it but you want to talk to her. She'll probably be very flattered that you've chosen to confide in her.
If, on the other hand, you don't like her reaction, then do you really need a friendship which is only based around food?
Whatever you choose to do, I'm wishing you lots and lots of fun tonight!
It's my weigh-in tonight eek and one of my very best friends is in labour right now (and I'm stuck at work)! I'm as high as a kite, hence long ramble sorry!

Princessscotland that is some excellent advice!
Katy I would echo everything said before (couldn't have expressed it so well!), I find that I get a longing to snack when I am watching films so maybe find something else to do with your hands like have a stress ball or offer to braid her hair (I know you aren't 8 but I love having my hair played with). I am sure you will have enough points to have a little treat e.g. a mini tub of ice cream or a sugar free jelly or some carrot sticks and low fat dip, if you plan it in I am sure it will be fine (I wouldn't do popcorn just before a weigh in, it seems to really slow down my digestive system and I feel huge!).
Otherwise see if you can put on some dodgy music and dance around for a while in your pjs and burn off some calories!God is good, all the time

ah excellent advice girls. thank you. i think i just needed a big old nudge to prevent epic WW failure tonight.
we are going to the shop after i've picked her up so i will tell her then and we can choose yum healthy things together.
ahhh, thanks again PS and sian! still worried about weigh-in but at least i know i won't b'gger it all up tonight.
p.s. i wish i liked jelly! *sigh*
p.p.s. our friendship isn't just based on food- it's also based on playing classic arcade games and whingeing! :rotfl:0 -
p.p.p.s. , PS (!) woo for your friend in labour! congrats!0

Sian - a friend of mine on WW has done Glasto and V this year. She took Quaker Oats with her - there's a pack of them which are in waterproof pouches. She said that said porridge with longlife skimmed milk - you pour to a marker line on the pouch apparently - did the trick for her! OK so it was cold but she said for a low points breakfast it was perfect.
Enjoy Leeds!0 -
Aw thanks Katy and Sian. Sian, awesome ideas for snacks and distraction techniques!
Katy, really glad you're going to let her know and I hope you're having a great night.
No word on my friend for the past 6 hours but I'm sure it's all going to plan... having to sit on my hands to stop myself texting her or her hubby.
I lost 2.5lbs this week! DELIGHTED YAAAAAY! 4.5 lbs in 2 weeks *trying to give self a high 5*

just logging in quickly as my friend has zonked out on the sofa already! oh dear.
tonight was a SUCCESS in terms of food. 3 scoops of phish food fro-yo (i'm flippin' addicted to the stuff!), strawberries and grapes for snacks with home made healthy curry for dinner!
i told my friend and she was totally nonplussed. lol. so it was just me worrying about a non-existent issue then. i also got the boyf some choc buttons, and i only pinched one
wooo :j
ooh and sian- when i go camping i like to take crackers and some slices of ham and cheese or babybels in a tupperware pot. it's a nice little snack, even better if kept in a cool box with ice packs. might be good for festival eating?
katy xxxx
high fives PS! :T0 -
Great advice all! I think I have to choose between economical and unhealthy and just unhealthy, not being able to keep anything cool or heat anything limits me somewhat! Am getting very excited now! Listening to Kings of Leon on Spotify (has everyone discovered the joy of spotify yet?)God is good, all the time
