Thats a bit harsh mate! Most people used only one £15 voucher.

  • If you cancel your credit card which you used to purchase items, and then they try to get their money back they won`t be able to.Do what i have done, cancel existing card and request new one from same company, that way its impossible for them to retrieve money from your account as the 3digit security code on the back of the card is different for each card,as far as the credit card company is concerned the first card is null and void.that way it is impossible for lx to take money out of your account. If eyeryone did this it would really teach lx a lesson,DON`T MESS WITH THE CONSUMER.

I would agree with u however the story gets complicated. Its one credit card but 2 card holders. both me and the other card holder placed separate orders and also one of the orders placed was not a wrong parcel and invoice totally. So a third order was placed via phone and discount ok. If it werent ok they should of said so then and there. And when we placed the orders, no one stated it was a first order only promotion. The statement that i have says its a hoilday voucher.

To maddom, it was never intentional to cheat them out of money. so was not expecting them to take the money back. hence never killed the card b4 they could do it. anyway they didnt notify me so i didnt know about it until they already did it.

In fact it certainly isn't impossible to charge to "closed" credit cards, and it is done. This is particularly the case where you've granted an authority to charge to a card (a bit like a direct debit but on a credit card): the only person who can cancel this is the company you've granted it to.

However in the case of catalogue companies, you are almost always using a credit account anyway, so they can just charge the amount to that. You will then be liable for interest, and any defaults will show up on your credit report. The smart thing to do is to pay up and put this down to experience: you don't want to end up with problems getting credit because of a £15 voucher.

Has anyone noticed that LXDirect have changed their website? I think they have probably upgraded their online shopping system....

Has LXDirect taken back or are about to take back money from anyone else?

  • So, I bought a Dyson DC07 Allergy+ for £199 with an additional 20% discount in October and still haven't seen the refunded discount as my credit card still shows the original price even today!.

I originally used a £20 off + 20% + free delivery, but they sent me an e-mail to phone them. I did so and was told that two codes couldn't be used together, so I dropped the £20 code as advised by the LX Direct guy, and also had to drop the free delivery as that goes with the £20 discount. So it was agreed that the 20% discount was to stay as it was a larger discount (on £199) than £20 off.

So, no money has being requested back by them or credited in lieu of the voucher, but now I'm getting regular SPAM from their sister company Misco.

Also received today an e-mail with a new 10% discount code for use within 14days - now why would they expect me to use this code when they didn't honour the last one ??? ...and now it's too late to send the Dyson back even though I could have got it over £20 cheaper on 24-7 Electrical.co.uk or the like without the need for coupons. Even with their current online price (-20%) of £189.99, it's cheaper elsewhere. ...which is strange as when I purchased mine, it had an online doscount of 19% (£199), so how can 1% equate to £10 ???

So, the lesson here is don't just use vouchers if you can get a similar discount by using a price comparison site like --- or just don't use LX Direct!

Yes, don't use the codes unless you are prepared to pay the full amount if they are not honoured  :-/

I learnt my lesson from La Redoute and Sainsburys :'(:'(
