Hi, I'd like to join the thread if that's ok :) I'm 26 (27 in two weeks...yikes!) and I'm currently saving for a deposit by myself. As I'm saving by myself I'll only be looking to buy a two bed house or flat. My target is:

    Deposit: 12K (50% saved)
    Fees: 3K
    Furinture: 3K

I'm just about to start a new job which means I'll be without pay for 8 weeks (I'll miss the paydate cut off when I start!), so won't be doing much saving over the next couple of months. I won't be looking to buy anything until 2011 when I'm more settled in my career, but that seems ages away at the moment. My target is to get on the property ladder before I'm 30! As most of my friends brought their first houses years ago I've always felt a bit left behind, but hey it was my choice to spend time working abroad and doing a PhD so I shouldn't complain.

Oh dear not a good month!

We have just got engaged and we are having a few days away soon to mark it so savings are going in the wrong direction but I am hoping to get about £500 bonus from work so that certainly helps.

    The slog continues.

Aww congrats Mclaren :T I'm sure a month off (a little bit anyway..!) to celebrate your engagement won't hurt you! Enjoy it! :D

4 1/2 months isn't very long at all really, I'd love mine to be that near. Still another 2 years or so to go for us. It's less than half a year, you'll be there before you know it.

Aww, I can imagine how you feel, oh and me lived at my mum and dads for about 9 months then decided we couldn't cope with it anymore-keep going it'll be worth it in the end! :) think of the lovely home that you will have that will be all yours :T

4 and a half months you could do a daily countdown as that kept me going for our wedding and seems to go down a lot quicker when you think of it like that :)
