loss of benefits for Disabled Son

I do understand where the OP is coming from. And yes he does have extra needs and do understand about losing the money.
My husband has a stroke in 2006 and we lost half our income in a few seconds and even with his benefits between us we get a got less than the national average wage. And we get no help as we have savings and bought our own house.
The OP is not the only person in the position there will be hundreds if not thousands of families who will be struggling once there children turn 18 and they no longer get CTC etc. But that is a fact of life like or not.
Does he get both DLA care and Mobility if not then make sure he is claiming both. IB is ok but does not give you passport benefits such as free scripts but may be able to claim due to low income.
I am afraid even though he is disabled your son is now classed as an adult so you assessed on benefits as an adult which means working min 30 a week to get WTC etc.
All the best.

As he is disabled it would only be a minimum of 16 hours per week to claim WTC, providing he is fit enough to work.0 -
Hence why he will get IB and high rate DLA
What more benefits should he/she or anyone be entitled to?
CB and CTC are for CHILDREN. Every parent in the country will lose them at some stage.
Why should this case be any different?
i cant see anywhere in the OP's post where she is saying she should be getting these benefits , she was asking what benefits she could now get?0 -
:rotfl: How old are you and how is your long running battle with myself helping the O.P:rolleyes: (200, never. It was more closer to 144, exact actually, of which about half of them were deleted in the house price crash thread when it got binned)
You obviously need to get out more or shall i dare say it, get a job as 7780+ posts suggests you in fact spend all day, every day, trolling this forum. You need to get a life, my friend.
if you want to discuss things further, the PM system is available instead of you trolling threads looking for my whereabouts:D
You love me really, and i obviousy brighten up your day;)
Question to the O.P still stands......Do you not receive any form of carers allowance?
The fact is as well as having posts deleted by admin you have deleted posts yourself when you have got worried about your fraudulent comments about cheating the benefits system. It is odd that you should be critical of dmgs amount of posting and employment status when you have spent large chunks of the day posting, maybe you work at night!0 -

Like i said, happily married, 1 child and not once claimed a benefit other than child benefit. I have never once thought about the benefits system or any plan on how to swindle it as you say. A lot of my posts were deleted in the HPC thread as there was a lot of bait being taken
I work a shift pattern, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off thankyou. If you had been stalking me as much as DMG24, you would have known that. (Aberdeen, oil etc) Not that my working pattern has anything to do with this thread. No idea why your post is relevant to the O.P's question
I wish the O.P the best of luck trying to get more money for looking after a disabled person

Seemed to have stirred up a hornets nest unlike the previous Post .
I pay for the roof over our heads I do not get that for free, I pay council Tax although I qualify for a discount because of my sons condition not a big one either.
I do not qualify for ICA as I work and do not qualify.
My Sons money does not go into my pocket which Is a discusting thing to say.
People with Children have extra outgoings but people looking after some-one with special needs have a lot more .
My heating bill is huge as he has to be kept at a certain temp, or should I just wrap him up In extra Blankets.
And as for the comment the welfare state looks after the Disabled very well you do not know what tou are talking about.
Thank-you for the Positive replies they out weigh the Ignorance of some people.0 -

I was not saying anything about the son think you need to re-read what I said I was talking about the mother who mentioned about having to work 30 hours a week to get WTC.
And that the fact that now her son is 18 she is now treated as no longer being a parent but as a single/married person.
Also for the Son on IB you are only allowed to work 16 hours a week for permitted work which is a mine field.

I dont think I have got you mixed up with someone else and from what I can remember you were talking about fiddling the benefits system with regard to income support and paying your wife cash in hand so if this is the case you are now telling lies. This has now progessed to being hypothetical questions and now in this post you say you have never thought about swindling the benefits system. The story keeps changing.0 -
I was referring to the post made by conor (Post 18 i think)
The O.P was receiving over £800 worth of childrens benefits + IB and DLA for her son. No mention of housing, council tax etc but this all amounts up to a serious amount of cash, hence why i said the state looks after those in need very well.
Is there anything wrong with that? I believe the government do a fantastic job supporting those in need.
That's based on the very limited information in one post. Do you have any other experience or knowledge of this issue?I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break

If the son is disabled and not working as long as he doesn't have loads of savings his IB should mean he qualifies for income support. Won't be an extra £800 a month tho.

My apologies for the misunderstanding but it wasnt clear what exactly was being said -
"I am afraid even though he is disabled your son is now classed as an adult so you assessed on benefits as an adult which means working min 30 a week to get WTC etc."
It could have been taken either way and I obviously took as the opposite way from yourself.
If he is able to work he would be able to claim WTC with disability element and also have a wage. His DLA would not reduce his WTC as it is not classed as income for tax credit purposes.
This is only general advice as from what is being said he may not be able to work.0
