It's usually better to get currency at your destination rather than at home. However euro rate is currently losing a cent every day so in a week's time it could be 5-7 cents lower than today's rate. It may stay the same or it may go up, no-one knows.
  • LOID,with such a relatively small amount why not exchange it with friends/family who are travelling .That way all of you are winners by avoiding the spread
  • Tough old world out there for a sterling traveller. My Xmas holiday is fast becoming a stretch but what price sun in January?

We've used Crown Currency Exchange a few times. Excellent service and good rates.

We go to Tenerife in a couple of weeks time.

Normally I change money at the desitination but I've heard a lot of the exchange shops in las americas are a bit of a rip off (charging commission when it isn't advertised) so not sure what to do. Was going to get a nationwide card but haven't had time and it will be too late now.

Does anyone know the best place for Euros at the mo?

You Nearly always get a better rate at your destination (when rates are stable)........ALWAYS ask.this...if i give you £100 how much in euros will you give me........if they reply with ifs and buts and dont offer the rate that drew you in WALK AWAY.................ps..If they point at the display board that shows the rates you will still be conned.......they must tell you how much in euros they will pass to you over the counter...............

If you need to buy travellers cheques, and get ripped off when you use them.............if you cant trust yourself to look after your cash money, then, perhaps, you better stay in the uk.................

    Priceless.

I can't really afford a hol (who really can?), but winter sun is necessary, and it's better to go whilst still able to. After all, life is but memories........ :p

Actually, would one recommend exchanging £ for Euros somewhere, or just using a Nationwide Flex card, as i'm not sure which may give the better rate.

Nationwide Flex WILL give a better rate, I normally take some with me though as you can't guarantee that you won't need cash before finding a cash machine.
