Can anyone advise me please? I have 5500 euros in a Spanish bank a/c. Which is the best way to convert it and transfer it all to my british a/c?0
-
It has to be converted as some stage to get it into you Uk bank account so I assume that you need to ask the Spanish bank to transfer it. Can't really see that there is an alternative. I don't think they would move the money as Euros but you could ask. I did read last week that Spanish banks are very quick with transfers unlike Uk banks which are still doing the three day thing but I think the person was referring to transfers in Spain.0

Make a note of the IBAN and BIC/Swift details of your UK bank account. Then contact your Spanish bank and ask to make an IBAN transfer of €5500 to your UK account. In Ireland, the charge for such a transfer differs between banks (e.g., AIB don't charge a fee, Ulster Bank charge 54 cents per transfer). I don't know how much your Spanish bank will charge you.Cookiecrumble wrote: »Can anyone advise me please? I have 5500 euros in a Spanish bank a/c. When the funds reach your UK bank, the bank will convert into Sterling and credit your account. UK banks do not usually charge a fee for incoming IBAN transfers.
Some info further info about the IBAN system for you here.0 -

I don't know where you are in the country!?
I was passing through London in need of Norwegian currency.
So seeing a recommendation on here, I called in on "Thomas Exchange Global". In reality a small shop front on The Strand.
The "Indian" teller was efficient, I got a good rate and was back on the pavement within 5 minutes. I got the impression it was the sort of place that would "negotiate" over a large sum or at least match any rival offer;). Obviously, with an appreciable amount of cash there might be anti laundering procedures that have to be followed.
