What's causing the sudden (and rapid) drop from a 1.15 position last week to todays 1.117?
With Greece the way it is, I'd have half expected the Euro to drop against the £, not gain on it. Is this becuase we're technically not out of the recession (according to news reports today?)Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -
It's good for me. I shall be in the UK next week (from Ireland), so a weak Sterling shall be most welcome.0

Im not sure of the news but on the chart above we just broke out of the lines.

If we look back to Sept to see how it performed after, this is a possible scenario
Further gains for euro seem likely on a larger time frame though look to monday for confirmation of this trend, 1.126 or below0 -
EUR / GBP has met a negative trend going back to 2008. I really dont expect it to be beaten back but this is the last stand for the sterling bulls.
So sideways, some negativity but eventually I would guess euro to surpass sterling overall in the next year and perhaps quite strongly as this larger trend is broken.
I'll have to see how the news reflects this, or not0 -
 I too have just been charged by Alliance & Leicester for getting foreign currency (on statement: CARD COUNTER CHG-WDL). And over £20!!! So much for shopping around for a great rate using MSE!!! I didn't see anything warning me about this possibility and actually spent time reading through all of Tesco's T&Cs about getting currency through them. I chose to use my debit card to avoid the stated credit card charges - should have done that after all... In fact it probably has worked out as the most expensive thing I could have done. I'm disgusted. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:mad:

Beware when paying on credit OR debit cards!
Sadly, buying currency from a bureau de change in the UK on a credit or debit card isn’t always treated as a UK transaction. All credit cards and some debit cards charge an additional fee on top of what you pay the bureau de change. See a full list of cards that charge.0 -
