    Hi guys,

    I'm a TV star now !!
Thanks to my gorgeous 6yr old daughter... here is the reason why we had to cancel Februay's trip to Disneyland Paris, and why the re-arranged June trip is not looking so certain now....

What a pretty (and brave) young girl you have Inspector.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I've a 6yr old daughter too, but cannot begin to imagine your stresses this illness is bringing.

Looks like she is being well cared for by Dr's and family, my regards to you and yours.

Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.

  • Just to say that Mrs Monkfish succesfully completed the half-marathon on Sunday, despite little or no training, in a far better time than she ever imagined.:T

Thanks to all those that sponsored her and her friends, and thanks also to those that took the time out to just have a little look around the charity website (see my sig)

  • I think that I've just screwed up big time this morning.

I ordered 600 Euros from the "Change Group" which gave me a decent
rate plus free delivery BUT when choosing the payment method,
simply because it said "No Charge" I used my credit card.

I had forgotten that Capital One will charge and all my good work
finding good flight prices, and car hire had been lost in one transaction.

Can anyone tell me what this mistake is going to cost me?
The Capital one account page says.....

We charge interest on cash withdrawals at your cash interest rate, from
the day your transaction appears on your account. You'll also be charged
a fee of 3% of the amount withdrawn, minimum £3 (whichever is greater)
    for each withdrawal.

And what can I do to minimise the cost, like put money into my Cap 1
    account etc?

You need to pay your credit card bill off immediately. They'll charge interest on that cash till your balance is returned to zero

Thanks sabreTT, I've overpaid the account now and it is in credit.
Can I assume that I can now continue using the card normally without
    any further "cash withdrawal" interest?

Bit of a different question, but is there any way to get a better exchange rate than a bank transfer for sending money from Europe (Ireland) to the UK? My FIL2B is sending us e25,000 as a wedding present, which is going to be our house deposit, but I don't really know how to get it sent over, or what constitutes a 'good' rate (he's asked us to call him one day there is a 'good' rate and he'll send it via bank transfer that day).
