I think the pound has already taken a battering aginst the euro, if you compare it to this time last year.

I don't know if it's going to get worse though.

If any body knew for certain what the pound was going to do against the euro/dollar etc etc then they would be multi millionaires, hell if I knew I would sell everything I own, including the kids, and buy euros etc to make a killing in a few months time.

People speculate on radio and tv etc purely for sensationalism, my advice would be just go and buy em now, the euro is currently selling at 1.24 and the highest its been in the past 3 months is 1.33 a difference of 11cents on the pound therefore even if you had bought a £1000 at the 1.33 rate you would only be 110 euros better off, which is currently worth £88, so not a huge amount for a £1000 investment.

And remember kids the search facility is your friend.

Has anyone found any factual articles about this so we can see how much of a problem this might be? Also any suggestions for where to get the best rate? I usually go to the Post Office, but maybe it would be better to change money when I get there?

any articles written about this subject would be as factual as the horoscope in todays paper, the money markets are not a science, sure there are trends but you wouldnt want bet to your house on it.

re the best prices you can get:

Travelex claim to be the best about, however i recently discovered a large tescos in pitsea has a travelex booth, whos prices are better than their website, however they charge commision the good thing about this is their is also a post office in the pitsea tesco store who do all currencys at the same rate as the booth but without commision, however i tend to go with the place thats closest to me because, unless your buying very large amounts, the odd cent here or there is'nt gona make a huge difference.

Possibly a stupid thought, but with the dollar rate so good, would it work out better to buy dollars and then convert the dollars to euros?

If you bought euros with dollars you would get

    $100 = 59.91 euros
    $100 = £51.83
    £51.83 = 64.43euros

(all prices based on todays values on travelex.co.uk and travelex.com)

therefore going down the dollar route you would lose 4.52euros per $100.

    Hope this answers your question
