Sorry, I'm still slightly confused - is this a rant about the strong Euro or a strong rant about the Euro?

Most people get their holiday money together, change it into euros,go abraod and spend it.

They may think "I thought I got a lot more last year for the same amount of £s" but they just shrug, and are looking forward to their annual break so much, they don`t really care.
    Change a thousand pounds
spend a thousand pounds is the attitude.

The crunch will come when the tour operators start to buy their rooms and because of the £/€ will have to pay a big increase which will in turn push up the cost in the holiday brochures.
It`s then that people will see the real cost and maybe decide it`s cheaper to holiday here.

Good point alared and I'm sure that's just what we'll do - as I said in the OP this is really just a 'moan' - though I think things would have to get really bad for me to decide on a UK break - apart from obvious things like the weather - we spend about £100 (though nearer £120 this year) a day in Spain on a half board basis in a really good hotel inc. a few drinks, add another £500 for flights, car hire, a few lunches etc - bargain - this could not be done in the Uk. The last time I went for a couple of days away the B&B alone was £75 . Anyway enough grumbling, the sun's shining, the dog's barking, all is well with the world ... I'll change my money into Euros soon so I can then forget about it. Thanks to everyone for their observations - Roger

Be very cautious if you are thinking of gambling on currency rate changes based on 'expert' opinions. Experts are frequently proved wrong!

Yes my main problem is that it's more difficult to find published info about buying rates rather than selling rates so it's a lot harder to compare.
The Post office advertised rate doesn't seem to be very competitive.

Listening to 5 live yesterday and they had an item on about travel.....they said that if you are going to Europe this summer and need euros to get them now as it looks like the pound is going to take a battering.....do you think that this is good advice ?
