    Leeds was a nightmare!

Waited over 4 hours to get my stuff from the warehouse, some people had waited 6/7 hours!!!!! What a joke. Staff were loosing their temper and so was I. After going nuts and causing a scene I got my stuff 30 seconds later. Amazing!

I know it's easy to make comments about fixing the problem when all we're doing is waiting for our stuff but a good word of advise - Your customers aren't idiots and if you tell them the TRUTH then they won't go crazy like I did. It was one lie too many that tipped me over the edge.

Be honest, say you f'ct up and tell us how you're planning to solve the situation then communicate on a regular basis how your getting on.

I'm just about to go and open the boxes now to see if I got what I ordered.......

I went to the MetroCentre at around 7.30pm and the store itself was relatively quiet, although the car park was full. Ordered my sofa bed (delivery included), staff were brilliant and the lady who took my order said customers had been lovely and it had been a great day.

Had a quiet wander through to pick up a light fitting and then went to join the horror that was the queue at the till. Fortunately we were able to find a till that was moving quite fast, primarily because there wasn't really any room for people with big trolleys to queue up, so that took about 15-20 mins. All in all we were in there for around an hour and saved £125.

Well I went to Belfast last night but the sinks I wanted were out of stock, any idea if Ikea do any other sales throught out the year,

    Thanks
  • We went round to Nottingham's Ikea at about 10.30pm in the end, after keeping an eye on the queues (we live just round the corner) and the stock levels all day.

It wasn't too bad considering the lateness of the day - most of our stuff was in stock (all except 2 items) and the staff were still really good considering how long and stressful their day must have been!

My only real grumbles are that like another poster said, a lot of the individual components of an item of furniture were located in different aisles all over the place...not sure why they couldn't put a table frame and table top next to each other for example? Surely that would lessen the amount of to-ing and fro-ing everybody was having to do with trolleys, and the frustration at finding that your last component had actually run out, when you'd spent a good twenty minutes hunting round for the others.

The only other thing was when we came to pick up three items at the full-service bit - the woman who put our order through asked us if we were local and when we said we were, she recommended we come back tomorrow to pick them up as the queues had been up to 3 hours long. Baring in mind it was by then nearing midnight, we were happy to agree to that. When it came to going through the checkout though - the guy on the till said we couldn't do that and would have to queue up or we wouldn't get our items. Then, another woman on the full-service bit told me again that the wait was around an hour but we couldn't come back tomorrow as they couldn't guarantee our items would be in stock.
It would have been nice to be told the same information from the start - rather than getting mixed messages.
As it was, we decided to go home anyway and just come back in the next couple of days (our two out-of-stock items were supposedly due back in stock on monday anyway so might go back and pick the lot up then). All our goodies are for our study which isn't quite ready yet anyway, so time isn't particularly of the essence here.

All in all though - not too bad. Saved ourselves about 70 quid which is not to be sneezed at. Am kind of hoping Ikea don't have another sale like that anytime soon though. I'd feel compelled to go back again and I'm not sure my frazzled nerves could take it!!!!

Fantastic, arrived Ikea about 5.15pm, found parking place straight away, went straight to kitchen planning and was seen straight away, planned kitchen, booked home delivery (approx 3 months - suits us as haven't built extension yet!), straight through checkout but had to wait 1 and a half hours to collect my ironing board!!! Saved £440  :money:

Wouldn't have bothered but offered to take a friend who had to wait in same queue to collect all her things and found out in the end that some were not in stock (or couldn't be found) so she is getting free delivery on these items............

think all staff were fantastic but feel sorry for the ones at the collection point! WELL DONE :T

Better get cracking with the extension.............

Thanks for your post as now I know we can arrange delivery in a few month's time. That will suit us because we need to knock down a wall, level the floor, re-plaster the ceiling etc. before we can install the kitchen.

Would you be able to change some items on your order before delivery? We are just worried that once renovation start, we might be forced to have minor changes to our planned kitchen.

Such a shame. I just returned from holiday in the Canary Islands at midnight last night so liiks like I missed out!

Was going to purchase a new kitchen £1500+ from IKEA so would have saved quite a bit. Just my luck I guess....
  • Got to Ikea warrington at 5am - first there - but when the queue formed the first 4 couples were all moneysavers!! Bought a kitchen and some wardrobes - saved around £200, got my free breakfast and £1 meatballs for lunch

I wondered about a man with his delightful young son being an MSE'r who was in front of me in the queue. He went to use his credit card and the sales assistant told him there would be a 70p charge for this. He thought for a minute then said "its okay, I get 1% cashback using it so that will outweigh the 70p charge" :T

We arrived at the Gateshead store at 7am, carpark was packed, childrens play area was just opening, so we left my son there and then headed straight for the warehouse. Managed to spend around £600 yesterday with good discounts. Also found the childrens extendable Vikare bed (RRP £59) in bargain corner for £33 and then took another 21% off!
