  • Went to the Milton Keynes Ikea and was there for hours from 1545 until 1945. Had my 6 and 4 year old sons so we took it easy had a 21p hotdog and other food and then got the boys checked into the creche for 5pm. Then went to locate my items and found empty shelfs. In the hour the boys were in the creche I managed to locate two items!!!! Information desk were really helpful and informed me they had another pallet of the units that I wanted 4 of, however did have to remind the chap an hour later BUT he was great and was straight onto the case.

Ikea staff were giving out free bottles of water but unluckily I got sparkiling!!! Queue time for checkout wasn't as bad as I anticipated. Did manage to get all that wanted just the doors and drawers in a different colour. and saved £98 :T so well happy as didnt realise it was 21% today until a banner popped up when I looked on the site today and I checked on here

so thanks IKEA and thanks to MSE :money:

It sounds like some of you went to the wrong Ikea and missed all the fun... we went to Wednesbury early this morning, got there at 5.45am and skipped the free breakfast to get started on the shopping - thank God we did coz the corner wardrobe we were after was low on stock it seems, and quite popular too, and we were lucky to get the last complete set of the 3 required boxes - noticed later that one of them was damaged and remembering that there had been a spare one of that box number I went to swap it with the other box to find someone had taken it - I wonder if they realised they wouldn't get through the tills without all 3 boxes?? We got lucky on a host of other items too where we either got the very last item on the shelf, or got the last non-damaged one.

By 7.30am we had got pretty much the rest of the stuff on my list except a £6 pair of shelves and the headboard for my new bed, but the computer said that it was out of stock in all the neighbouring Ikeas too so it seems there is a supply issue there.
Made it through through the tills by 8 am, queued for Home Delivery for about 20 minutes, to then have to wait another 30 mins while full serve found our bed, which we requested at the same time as when we got in the Home Delivery queue. Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, so I've got another early start to make space in the garage!

After that we went and had breakfast, which was no longer free but never mind, then did another tour of the showroom and marketplace to get all the little bits - by the time we left at midday it was rammed in the showroom, and there was a queue all the way back to the M6!!

All in all, we saved around £350 after delivery, although I think we will need to take the damaged part of the wardrobe back to get a replacement as soon as they have more stock - we were assured that if we only took the damaged box back they would replace it rather than refund so no problem there. The best bit is that we had planned our new bedroom about a month ago, with the intention to do it some time over the summer, so we were going to buy all this stuff anyway at full price.

We also picked up a kitchen voucher - it is in my name only, and the guy assured me it was only valid for kitchen related-items and the order had to include cabinets. I would love the claim made by another poster that it would be valid for all areas to be true, but I really think they have either got the wrong end of the stick or has been misinformed.

All in all an interesting visit to say the least, although I wouldn't like to do it again ever!
  • Thanks MSE.. went to the Leeds Ikea tonight and saved £270 off my new sofas. It was apparently pandemonium this morning so I'm glad we decided to go later... it was quite busy and we had to wait for over 45 minutes at the delivery section, but my sofas were in stock and will be delivered on Monday. We are well impressed but..... if you ordered online the delivery nationwide is £35, yet tonight, we had to pay £55 and we're only 10 miles away.... ?????

Went to the Metro Centre Ikea today at 3pm, traffic was horrendous it took almost an hour to get into the car park and the police were there trying to direct the traffic.

It appears that everyone in the NE was trying to grab a bargain.

Once inside it was equally as manic, a bit dissapointing as I wanted several things from the warehouse but the majority of it was out of stock and not due in till next week or month. The queues at the checkout were a nightmare as well, the ironic thing was they had a large sign saying that they would endevour to serve people within 8 mins, ha ha considering every checkout was open and the sheer volume of people there that was an impossibility.

Does anyone know how easy it is to return items, I bought a new rug but when I've tried it I don't like it?

went to Wednesbury site at 7.00pm tonight and joined queue for parking spaces back past B&Q on the retail park but only took 15 mins to get onto car park and luckily found space straightaway.Got to admit once inside it didn't appear anymore busy than a normal busy Saturday with the added benefit there seemed to be more staff around than usual.Actually quite enjoyed it for once as the customers appeared to be in a good mood - no doubt the thought of saving that 21% helped!Would be interesting to know if Ikea make any more money than a normal Saturday after taking into account the longer costs in opening longer, higher wage bill, the 21% reductions etc.

Hi, I visited IKEA WEMBLEY today and it turned out to be a really nice, calm and chilled out shopping experience.

I arrived with my sister in tow at around 5.30am where cars were lined up waiting to enter the car park. We only waited a few minute before the gates were unlocked. There was some furious hooting at a person who had fallen asleep at the wheel and everybody was driving around him to enter the car park! Poor thing probably had been parked up the entire night only to find he would be much later than he anticipated.

We managed to bag a premium parking spot as well. We queued up with many others outside the entrance for the remaining half hour where staff came out and reminded us that we would need Ikea Family Cards to enter and were handing forms out to all who turned up without.

We decided to skip the free breakfast on offer and just purchase our things first. I purchased the ODDA wardrobes x2. Some really wonderful members of staff assisted us in loading the 6 boxes onto our trolley. We approached the cash desks with nobody in front of us.

I opted for Home Delivery which had an additional £20 knocked off and was even told I could have it that very afternoon, I declined and so now it will be arriving tomorrow. So fast!

We then took the option of eating breakfast and once again no problem with queues or seating. Plenty of food and space for all!

After breakfast we took a stroll around the store and picked up a few other knick knacks and then visited the food shop as well, which also offered the discount.
We were back home by 9am and I didn't feel stressed out by it at all. People were really calm and staff were really happy, pleasant and helpful.

Things had really picked up by the time we had left including cordoning off the A406 with cones so nobody would be able to queue jump the traffic.

It was obvious it was going to get hectic as more and more people were arriving by the minute.

Im glad I visited today and I got my bargains. It was worth it.

We only went to Ikea at at around 9.30pm, since we were sure what we wanted to buy.

However, now I regret we did not go early in the morning as I found the Marcus Swivel Chair which I love, was reduced from 99 pounds to 69 pounds but it was sold out :(

Anyway, got other stuff and saved some money plus a voucher for the kitchen to use in the coming weeks. Still not sure we will have a new kitchen this year or not.

Hi all, my husband and i have just bought our 1st home and the kitchen is pretty nasty, if anyone has a spare kitchen voucher they won't use we would be really grateful if you could pass it our way as we could really do with saving a few pounds if we can.
Obviously i would cover postage costs.
  • Got to ikea LAKESIDE at about 0630, was stressing as I had overslept and wanted to get there at 0530. There was really no need, took less time than normal to park. They had lots of stock in all the things I wanted, they did run out of trolleys for a while, but a manager went out to the car park himself to start bringing used ones in again!, and the queue to pay was exactly 30 minutes (nothing compared to the first day of the NEXT sales).

One thing that surprises me is how smooth ikea shopping is when everyone makes a proper effort....this was probably my best ikea experience-and all because staff were going to get bigger bonus' depending on how well their store performed....hmmm
