I had to return some faulty items that I had brought in the sale and was told that I could have a refund then I would have to go back into the store and buy the same item again.

I asked if I would have to pay the sale price or the normal price. They told me I would have to pay the normal price at which point I complained it wasn't my fault that the item I had brought was faulty and they let me have the item at the sale price.

So just watch out if you want to exchange items brought at the sale price.

    Thanks for the heads-up!

Has anyone else had any experiences with returns / exchanges from the 21% sale?

I have a few things to change (some want different finish - picked up beech when I meant to pick up oak) just wondering how people have got on...

 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one....:o We bought a new bed from the sale which consisted of 3 flat packed boxes - got it home, then realised the side frames for the bed were in oak and not the birch effect! But before we realised this, we had demolished our old bed so had to spend a few nights on the floor! Doh! Our fault really though because the boxes do have small sideholes so you can check the colour!!
Took the side frames back on a friday evening & Ikea replaced them straightaway....no problems! They even kept them aside for us whilst we went to have another look around the store &pick a few more things up!!!

My only complaint on that day was the que for home delivery, we queued for two hours &didn't seem to move!!!!!! We gave up in the end &rang one of our friends who has a ford galaxy to come pick us up! And also, the lovely check out assistant dropped the mirror i wanted to buy....typical it was the only one left...hey ho though!
Other than that we managed to pick up some lovely bargains! :D

Just went and ordered my kitchen using the discount voucher, and signed up for the 12 months interest free credit too (so I'll be saving even more by offsetting the money for the kitchen against my mortgage in the mean time).

I will actually be fairly amazed if the kitchen turns up though, as the people on the checkout didn't really seem to have much of an idea what to do with the pile of forms I gave them. They almost even gave me the discount without taking the voucher.

Also, I ordered the kitchen on full delivery, and they included the delivery in the discounted amount, even though it said it wouldn't be included. Also, the drawer dividers, cutlery tray, and draw mats were included, even though staff had previously told me they probably wouldn't be.

In fact, as the discount was applied to everything I'd added to my plan, I kind of wish I'd added in a dining table and chairs, as that probably would have been discounted too.

Oh - I've still not had call-back about the sofa I'd ordered on the day though, although, I did spot the order was still listed when they were putting my new order onto the system.

When I ordered my kitchen when they first pushed the 0% last year I got all sorts on the 0%, basically when they do your quote so long as the things added to it are kitchen related (I managed to get wood flooring for the whole flat, dining chairs, pots and pans etc) it will be accepted.

I also found that some of the things weren't in the warehouse, so I just made up with lots of things from the market place and just handed my 0% paperwork over at the tills to pay for it all.

Quick update to my earlier post:

Stuff was delivered yesterday afternoon, but having been left in a leaky old van overnight by the Home Delivery people, the majority of it was soaking wet and thus ruined. Phoned up straight away to report the problem, and Ikea have offered to send free replacements for the damaged items, which is acceptable.

Was told a week ago that the delivery company would be in touch to sort this out but no one has contacted me, so I phoned up today to find out what was happening, only to find that although Ikea told me the delivery company have agreed to replace the items, the delivery people have no record of it :(

Needless to say I am not happy about the situation - gonna have to phone up tomorrow from work to get it sorted out.

I had to return a duvet cover that one of the fasteners was broken on, they refunded me the full price so i could go get another one, so that worked out the same, i wasn't out of pocket

I went to Gateshead on Weds evening to get kitchen, thinking it would be good time, oh no it wasn't, first head gasket went on car 20 mile before i got there (50 mile journey), but i went for it, reckoned it couldn't do any more damage and i might as well call RAC while ordering kitchen, got there, waited 90 mins, still not served, i have disability and was really uncomfortable and feeling very ill, and hadn't phoned RAC yet, 45 mins before store closed, got quite distressed by everything, lovely lady called Barbara on reception let me call RAC and got someone to bring me a coffee. RAC said i would be waiting 90 mins, so would be well after store closed. I eventually got home after midnight, shattered, poorly car, poorly me and no kitchen.
I phoned the store yesterday and explained to Steve, the duty manager, i would have to try get bus, 2 hour journey each way, and i could not risk waiting such long time or ending up coming home kitchenless again, he was great, told me to ask for him when i got there, and he would make sure i was seen, he did and i was, straightaway, by very efficient lady called Marilyn. So got my kitchen ordered, unfortunately was told i couldn't get any kitchen accessories or flooring with the voucher, which i was told on the 19th April would be allowed at later date, so this was disappointing, and i couldn't get 0% credit either. But can't worry about that now, I can only give massive thanks to the really friendly and helpful staff at Gateshead, Well Done :T !!!
The £300 quid i saved can go towards the car bill now, GREAT  !!

Had my kitchen delivered on Monday, as well as the various components of my corner sofa.

After carrying 4 large sofa sections up the 42 steps to my flat, the delivery people refused to carry all of the kitchen upstairs too, and said they would only deliver it to the communal entrance hallway.

I was rather annoyed by this at first, but seeing the amount of sweat on them I agreed. I nearly died of exhaustion carrying it up, but everything seems to be there. It'll still be a while before I unbox and assemble it all though, so I hope all is OK.

:T My kitche came tuesday. Got a phone call while I was in work - will be delivering at 4:45.....I usually leave at 5 and have about 30 mins to get home. The driver was really nice and said he would drive slowly but would need to deliver that evening. Colleagues were great and I left early to get home and re-arrange my house for the delivery. Cut a long story short - all the things that could go wrong driving wise - :o learner drivers stalling at lights/ long queues of traffic / meeting bike riders at places I couldn't over take...... got home 5 mins before the truck came.

the delivery people worked liked troopers and got it in. Anyway, thanks Ikea couldn't have done this / got so much without the sale

House is still a tip - but it's my tip with potential:rotfl:
