The Mobile Outlet

Options
Hiya!

I am having a problem with the Mobile Outlet (nothing new on this forum!!).

I sent my cashback claim for the first 4 months and just got a letter saying my application is void because I failed to include bill 4.

What actually happened is that I didn't receive bill 3 from Orange, asked twice for a copy, didn't receive them (I really can't understand how 3 copies of the same bill can get lost one after another... ). To get my claim in in time I had to print bill 3 from the Orange website and send that toghether with bills 1, 2 and 4 (the original bill 4 was actually in and not missing as MO claims).

Now i don't know if I should write them a letter or go to the Small Claims Court...in a way I breached the T&C because I didn't send the original bill 3, but on the other hand I did all I could to get it on time. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Just had a phone call back from T mobile (I only sent an email about 1/2 an hour ago!) first I got a guy who told me I can't downgrade until 11 months into my contract then he put me through to a lovely woman at Loyalty department who told me the same thing. I then told her about what it said at the back of my bill, and after talking to someone else she said they would make exceptions for people in this situation.

But the options were pretty rubbish! And we ended up agreeing that it's best for me to stick on this contract cos I use about 500 texts and the only contract with 500 texts was £25 and you only cost 30 mins with it!

I'm not happy but there are worse things happening in this life. I think everyone has learned a very big lesson from this. When my contract ends in August I will either be going back to pay and go or a contract with a reputable company offering me a good price and phone, no messing about with silly cashback claims.
  • Hi,

Does anyone think there is a possibility of the cashback coming through?

Orange have offered to drop my monthly contract from £40 to £25, this is a big saving but if I do this I break the TMO cashback rules....

Good advise. Unfortunately most of the contracts people have already give them more than they need!! They only went for them because of the cashback making it virtually a free contract. I've moved from Flext35web'n'walk at £42.50 to Flext25 for £20 based on the 6 month info on the back of my bill.
I just called T-Mobile who aren't allowing me to downgrade, i've been with them over 6 months. Is there any ref number i can quote, i've told them lots of other T-Mobile customers have downgraded, even the manager said i couldn't, any advise??
  • Gecko, what deal did Orange offer you at that reduced price, and how long had you had the contract? I need to get them to reduce mine but I've only had the contract 4 months.Haven't even put in the first claim yet, but if Orange will reduce my tariff, I'll behappy with that and not bother wasting any more time & money on TMO.

You got your contract after they changed thier terms to No downgrades until after 11 months. You may not have any joy. Sorry.

Have a look at the back of your bills cos I had my October bill in front of me on the phone and it clearly says you can downgrade after 6 months. If you stress your case and say that you took out a contract that was more expensive than you would normally because of the cashback deal and therefore want to change your tariff.
  • I purchased a mobile from the mobileoutlet and the policy of paying successful Cash-Back claims in 5 equal installments. This will ensure that no mistakes are made in calculating your redemption and you will also be fully aware of the Cash-Back amount you are due.

This is worked out by dividing your free line rental by the 5 equal installments and only applies if your Cash-Back claim is successful.

on my first installment I received only £49 when I should have received £84 so I rang tmo and I was told that when I took the contract £35 was paid to you early as the first phone you had was faulty and you had to wait for a new one so it was a early redemption as good will.

then for my second installment I received a letter to say the bills was received over the 21days and your cash-back is valid so I rang tmo and when I spoke to someone in cash-back helpdesk we calculated the days and they had received it on the 21st day and my argue was only after midnight it would be 22days so I had sent them in timescale and then they had to pay me as they tried really hard to get out of it.
the third installment was paid but I had to email then twice and rang around 5 times before I received payment

the forth installment I sent on the 24th November 2007 not received no payment

the fifth installment I sent on the 27th December 207 and received no payment I have rang them many many times I have emailed them 6 times no reply
I am so fed up I am waiting payment of £168 which is allot of money every time I ring them they have staff that are so dumb and stupid they can not stand plain English they gave me a number to ring 0845 450 2241 and I rang them up and they have nothing to do with the mobileoutlet please can someone tell me what action can I take?

    Hi,

I'm six months into the Orange contract and I had a text message from Orange telling me of a 'Best Plan' review, I looked online at the details.

The Best Plan review looks are your usage over 6 months and suggests a change if you need one, the suggestion for me is the change from my Canary-40 plan to a Racoon-25. According to what I have read, accepting the Best Plan doesn't change the contract length.

It's interesting to note that if I select 'Change Service Plan' I don't get the option of a cheaper plan and also I called Orange and they also told me that I could not make changes until the last 3 months of the contract....

Have a look through the last few pages.

I see what you mean, but if these people are still 'trading' does that suggest that they might start working on the backlog of cashback claims?

If they're going to go into liquidation I wish they would do it now and I know where I stand! ;)
