Cheers Martin, have you any background knowledge with this Building Society, have you ever banked with them or had any involvement with them?

Words "Non ISA Fix" were used :wall: , most people would see that as a sign that higher fixed rates are still being launched which could mean that a higher fixed ISA than is currently available may get launched within next few weeks or so.

Before u fire back, I was expressing an opinion that its prudent to wait and c what ISAS might be launched in next few weeks rather than rush to make a advance Barclays ISA application.)

Do I sense a bit of anamosity between you two?

I have looked at tghe brief information from Nottingham on its Savings account, and what a waste of my time that has been. Its NOT a ISA account, its a ordinary savings account. High interest, yes, but not for this thread, Barclays ISA is the game here

    The Nottingham

is a 1 year Bond, not an ISA, and is 6.8% gross/AER. Just rung to confirm now.

Does anybody know if my application for the Tax Haven ISA is delayed for this current tax year (opening one tomorrow) what will happen? I see that someone actually opened their ISA in March 2007 and yet the a/c was registered as being opened in April 2007 when Barclays had actually got round to opening the a/c.

Suppose they don't process my application til the new tax year, will I have lost out to the current 2007-08 tax year?

I just opened one for this tax year at my branch - I made sure the screen stated "tax year ending 5th April 08", so provided you check that, it'll be for this tax year. I was given a printout at the end to confirm it all :)

Thanks for that! I was going to check to make sure the form/screen says for this current tax year and make sure they don't mess up as I am opening another for the next tax year too. Just wondered if even if the screen says it's for this tax year and it doesn't get processed til next tax year it shouldn't cause a problem I hope!

Just to add as I'm new to ISAs, how do you keep track of your a/c? I'm not a Barclays customer so I'm assuming they set up an online a/c.

They will set up online banking for you a few days after you join. The declaration on screen makes it clear which tax year you're applying for - they have over 3 weeks to go so there shouldn't be any problems :D
