Barclays Tax Haven ISA 2008/09

I thought that at first, but then I realised I couldn't remember my info to get online. Having just logged onto my sainsbury's account by answering the questions on the website and they gave me half the info on the screen then emailed me the other half so I could instantly get into my account ... I tried the same with my Barclays account.antispam246 wrote: »
I'm looking to go with Barclays Tax Haven ISA as I'm already a current account holder with Barclays and can seemingly do it swiftly online.
Crashed and burned. I went through the process of "I forgot stuff..." and theirs ends in "OK, we've sent you a lovely letter to your home address". Only I don't use MY address for my banking stuff. As I've moved about quite a bit and my current mail point is insecure I leave all of my bank address details at my parents' house. So that takes about 2-3 weeks to get to me.
So I had to go into the branch in the end.0 -

That doesn't mean they will have somebody sitting there waiting
Just as a bit of background info, Previous similar Barclays ISA, the branches didnt actually open any accounts, whether people made appointments or as in my case just took app form and ID in with opening balance the branches merely checked the submitted applications ( and where applicable ID) logged the received applications on the computer and ALL the applications when to a Barclays ISA office to be actually opened.
So people are thinking 10 mins with an advisor all done without actually realising that an ISA for tax year 2008/09 cant actually be opened until 6th April 2008, all people are doing is making advance applications.
What some people found with previous Barclays ISA is that in some cases cheques ended up getting detached from applications etc and even after the "10 mins" at a branch after several weeks people didnt know whether Barclays had managed to subsequently lose all or part of the application
Some people had the money sitting in zero/low paying current accounts for a couple of months before the money was finally taken during this period people had no definate confirmation that their advance applications were even going to be processed.
Barclays made sure that nobody lost out by backdating interest and in some cases paying compensation to those applicants whose applications had been lost ( whether in part or in whole) where it was by then ( weeks on) too late for them to reapply for an ISA for the earlier tax year.0 -
I had exactly the same problem, except they only photocopied one piece of ID. They did take my mother's maiden name though! After I went to the trouble of visiting the branch to open an account they sent my cheque back today
Apparently I didn't provide proof of ID (I did, they photocopied both items) but when I phoned to query, it turned out they did have proof of ID but were now lacking my mother's maiden name.
Quick look at the printout given at branch confirms they had my mother's maiden name on the day I attended the branch
Welcome to Barclays... :rotfl:0 -

Shouldn't be so much of a problem for me, I regularly access my online account so I can download accounts/statements for MS Money. Thank you though. I'll wait on further replies before I go ahead today
