You didn't imagine it and I think it's happening around Nov 18/19th in Blackpool :)

I'll find the thread for you, unless someone beats me to it, and edit it in!

    Dear all

I think a few days ago I saw something here in this forum about an old style meeting/reunion but I was in a hurry and did not look into it properly.

Was I imagining things? I cannot find the thread anymore - maybe I mis-read something?

Help please! I'd hate to miss a reunion!

    Thanks

    Caterina
Hope you can make it (and that I can!) as I'd love to meet you again!

Caterina - i'm trying to organise it, but I'm being conspired against at the moment, through personal circumstances and also because the hoteliers I'm trying to arrange deals with don't phone me back.!!

However, I've pm'd MSE Andrea as the official MSE meet is going to be around the same time. All she can say is that it will be late Nov or early Dec. What I now want to know is do we Old Stylers want to postpone our OS meet, as some of us won't be able to afford the time or money to attend both, or do we still want our own OS meet on 19/11 in Blackpool. I promise that if the OS meet is postponed, then I will rearrange it in the New Year sometime.

Let me know asap, so that I can continue with arrangements if necessary.

I've just posted on the other thread that the official MSE meet will be within a couple of weeks of our meet. MSE Andrea can't give us an exact date yet - late Nov or early Dec was all she could say. I need to know if you OS'ers want to continue with our meet or postpone it until the New Year, so that we can afford to go to Martin's official meet. Whatever you want, I will arrange, but if the majority want to postpone, I promise to rearrange for sometime next year :D

I can't make it all the way to Balckpool this side of Xmas due to young Spud, I might be able to leave him for a night after Xmas as he will be nearer 6 months then but no sooner so personally I'd prefer that it's postponed so that I can join you...however this has nothing to do with the MSE meet. If the MSE meet is in London then I'll def go to that anyway.

PS : Hi Catrina, good to see you dropping in again:j

Like Lillibet, I'm afraid if the meet goes ahead in Blackpool I'll have trouble making it. If it's in London on the other hand I'll be first to be there/volunteer to help/get the ball rolling etc etc etc!

I'm always up for a party but Blackpool is surprisingly tricky to get to from London: several changes of train and a long journey. I'd have to stay for at least one night which hardly seems worth it, and would mean either paying extortionate Friday travel fares, or missing out on paid work (professional church choir) on Sunday morning.

Transport hubs like London, Birmingham or Manchester at least have fewer changes of train for most people, and tend to have really good travel deals too (I'm going to Manchester overnight this Thursday and managed to get a £1 out + £6 return fare on the National Express, though it was murder trying to find a cheap hotel).

Lillibet, if there's a do in London you must BRING SPUD WITH YOU or we will never forgive you :D

  • Ryanair fly Stansted to Blackpool if that's any help, and recently had flights for £0.01 each way, making a return journey approx £25 with taxes :)
