For those of you who have been away on breaks the venue for the OS Get Together has changed from the original so please read the first post in this thread if you haven't already and would like to know more.

I would love to join you but as Spud will only be 3 months old I think he will be a bit too young for that long journey so I'll have to pass.....unless you can convince me that I am being an overprotective new mum???:o:rotfl:

Both my DS1 and 2 went to N Ireland at 12 weeks old, by car and ferry. In fact, we moved house over 200 miles when DS2 was 10 weeks old. Actually, as long as you have room for all the paraphernalia a new baby seems to need, then a young age as easy as any to travel with them (unless, like me, you take a 7 week old on a 250 mile journey, on your own, and he wants to breast feed every hour! Boy that child could scream and scream when he wanted feeding!! :D)

And think of all the babysitters you will have :)

Oooops, bumping at the same time as Squeaky. I shall be investigating hotels with a view to choosing one later this week/beginning of next week, so all those who are interested, sign up now or pm me.

    Anyway, there's nothing quite like a bracing cold shower in a morning..... :D ..... I'm told :D
  • OK, I'm up and running (sort of) on this mission :D Before I make the final decision as to accommodation, would you rather have hotel or self catering flats. The reason I ask this is because I met the owner of these flats today :

    http://www.grandholidayflats.co.uk/

and he said I could have the flats for 1 night at £15 pp/pn (I have yet to confirm this by phone) I'm sure in true MSE style, we could feed ourselves cheaper, certainly at breakfast and these flats seem very well appointed (pool, bar etc) I did say I thought perhaps 15 people would be coming but numbers could fluctuate wildly :D

The owner also has 4 hotels, so I'm sure reasonable rates could be negotiated here too. I did also warn him that if we stayed at his accommodation, we'd have him converted to vinegar pronto :D:D

    Your thoughts people :)

  • I don't know if people have already made their travel arrangements for this, but for anyone down south or London areas who fancies flying up, then Ryanair have still got their cheap deals on until 19th Sept. I've just checked a return flight from Stansted and it's £26 all in, which I should imagine is much cheaper than the train, and only an hour's journey!

Just wish I was able to come along but I think it would far too ambitious for me to attempt LOL!

    Flats sounds great!
    Torgwen.......... :) ...........
  • Just had another look at Ryanair's site and the only flights into Blackpool are from Stansted or Dublin, so not sure if that's of any use to anyone

Dublin return is currently £50 for Sat/Sun flights if that's any help to anyone :)

Oooh how did i miss this thread? How wierd to actually put a face to a name. Not sure if i dare. Mind you the last 2 people i met via the internet (after chatting for a couple of years) i became the godmother to one's daughter and godmother to the other's son.

I bet none of you look like i imagine you to be - but i bet i look nothing like you lot think I look like!!
  • the flats look great TM - and self catering seems right for a bunch of MSE O/S ers somehow :D

    Good call!
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...
