Hi all - I am making an executive decision and the Old Style meet will be in Blackpool on Saturday 19th November 2005 Hotels are a plenty at this time of year and I should be able to do a deal if we have sufficient numbers. I won't make a final decision as to which hotel yet - I have spoken to a number of hoteliers who will be pleased to take a group booking at this time of year (of course ) but until I have final numbers, who does and does not want to share if necessary and how many men or women there will be (in case of room sharing) I can't decide which one I shall book. Rest assured, they will be from the budget end of the scale - ie small family run hotels which are clean and comfy is all we want, so somewhere around the £18-£25 pp/pn range.

With regards to specific requirements, I shall try, but if the cheaper ones doesn't cater for, say, wheelchairs, than I shall ask them for recommendations of nearby ones that do, so you can still come and join us, albeit may sleep at another establishment.

Please confirm who will be coming and if you are prepared to share (and who with if necessary). I know some OSers are away for a couple of weeks so there won't be any decisions made for a while.

It's OK ancasta - what I was going to do was find a suitable hotel then let people know and they can book their own rooms there (if they want) The hoteliers know that everyone is booking their own room but I would just tell them that it is an MSE party (or other suitable 'password'. That way we can get any discount going and if we are in the same place and it has a bar etc, we can chat about OS things to our heart's content. Also, the hotel have an idea of how many people will be turning up. Also, for those who haven't been to Blackpool, it's fairly large so if we all book all over the place, we may never meet up However, anyone can book their own rooms at which hotel they want. So far, the hotels I have spoken to haven't any bookings for that weekend (Illuminations have finished so completely out of season) We won't have any trouble getting into the same or neighbouring hotels.

I've checked and the Pleasure Beach is still open although not all the rides will be running.

oh thats a good idea then. Once you know the hotel i'll either book into the same on or a very close on... we're going to treat ourselves so may book into a slightly posher place, we dont know yet.

Count me in! Not sure if I'll stay with dd in Manchester and use the train or stay the night in Blackpool and then go back to dd the next day. Hate travelling at night

As it is November count me and OH in! We will probably come up on the train on Friday and stay over in the hotel and then meet all you guys on the Saturday, stay over and come back Sunday :-)

if you're going to/from manchester i can probably give you a lift, need to make sure i'm going first though!
