Well done on your loss - any loss is real - you *should* feel pleased.

I think the best thing on the website for someone struggling is the food diary feature. You select the day that you want (green or original) and after that, it will only allow you to select food that you are allowed - I found it a great way to get to 'know' the plan.

Thanks for this, I've been playing around with the food diary and think I'm getting the hang of it. I'm just realising what a commitment SW is going to be! Should be OK though once I've bought some extras like quorn, chicken, tuna, AH couscous, and yummy quark (love the stuff with herbs and salt added, or berries n honey added).

Cue lots of menu/meal changes in this house. I can see I'll have to keep extras in to fill my skinny, very active, teens, but DH?...hmmm:D
    Anytime;)

I have got to get my head round this so.......

I have just made a list of foods that I like on red and green days.

I also did one for all foods that are free on both days (superfree, I think???)

I have tried to make a list of meals we like, did it in 2 columns, red and green.

I am trying to plan plan and plan again!

Could any of you lovelies let me know what yogs are free other than muller lights and lasting satisfaction??? TIA

    Hello

these yogurts are free on both days which you can buy at Aldi. Someone mentioned recently that they are soon to be synned (i.e. when the new directory comes out I think) but as at now, it says they are free so I am still enjoying them. :D

Weight Watchers 4 packs of yogurts are free.
And as far as I know any very low fat/fat free yogs are as well although they arenm't always easy to find or labelled helpfully.

  • the rules have changed regarding SOTW now, you dont have to have stayed to class to get it, if you lose the most weight in the group then you recieve the certificate but if you lose the most weight out of the people that stay to group then you win the fruit/goodies.

As far as I am aware (and the way we do it in my groups) to be a valid candidate for SOTW you must have lost weight last week AND have the biggest weight loss this week, having stayed to class this week - whether you stayed last week is immaterial.

The rule for shift workers is that they can still be SOTW if they missed last weeks group, but have the greatest loss this week divided by 2. For instance, if they lost 6lbs this week (having missed last weeks class), that weight is assumed to have come off evenly over 2 weeks, so this week's loss would be counted as 3lbs. If the next biggest loss down is only 2lbs then the shift worker wins.

Having said all that though, it seems that each Consultant has their own way of doing SOTW. There are weeks when you get 6 people all having lost 2lbs (and with the best will in the world, you can't share a fruit bowl 6 ways, lol) so what we do is look at last weeks's loss too and hand the prize to the one who has lost most over the 2 weeks. It seems fair and I've never had any complaints.

Our fruit bowl also contains fruit, veg, Pasta n Sauces, Savoury rice, tinned tomatoes, bottle of sugar-free squash etc etc. It's a lovely prize which goes along with the certificate and sticker - all to the same person.

On another subject: I have recommended people to join SW to get the books myself, several times, rather than pay the dreadfully over-inflated prices on eBay, but lately I've been wondering about this practice.

SW are desperately short of Consultants in various parts of the country, with many of us doing relief classes as well as our own. There are many thousands of members in those classes, but, particularly now, with the credit crunch, some groups are dwindling. More and more people are coming to online support groups such as this one (and they really are excellent) but if the volume of paying members continues to drop, what will happen to SW?

Without being a successful member of a group, you wouldn't be considered as a Consultant (the best job ever) and without the money from people who actually attend a group, I wonder if the ongoing research which makes Food Optimising so brilliant can still be paid for.

I know many people consider the likes of SW or WW to be money making machines, but without that money, all the information we take for granted will be regularly reviewed and updated (syn values etc), and all the trained staff would disappear - then what?

This is the reason I never give out the password to a non-member. Paying members are meant to get exclusive rights to the website - that's part of what they shell out for, and sharing it with non-payng members, whilst it may be money-saving, is just another nail in the coffin of the Company :( Passing on recipes, hints and tips on what works or what doesn't, and giving general support is great, but privileged information should be kept privileged IMO.

Sorry for the rant and I mean no offence to anyone but it's a thought isn't it?
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • All perfectly good points and IMO you quite right.

It . currently. works out about £207 a year - now while I'd rather not shell out £18 a month - when you consider what you are getting - in terms of practical help and everything you get from the meetings (I hate the term class with a passion - makes us sound like school kids and I'm 46   ), the benefits of the weight loss and the very real health benefits of the weight loss - perfect example: earlier this year my GP measured my blood pressure and said it was slightly high and that even a moderate weight loss would bring this down - spool forward just a few months and he measured it again and my BP is now the lowest it has been in 2-3 years !!!  :j :j :T :T - well then I think it is worth it - how much is your good health worth !!

Wonder how many people spend more than £18 a night or week on consuming unhelathy levels of alcohol ? - would this not be better spent on improving your well being via SW ?

Not that I am suggesting everyone does or that many/any on here necesarilly do - just hinting at maybe, where finances allow, looking at ones life priorities.

OMG    I seem to have gotten on a soap box :o:o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p

  • i agree wholeheartedly 100% with C31 and judderman.
i used to go out on a friday night spend £30 including supper and roll home drunk, feel crap the next day and vow to never do it again (until the following week), the i was told i had high blood pressure and losing weight and changing my lifestyle would benefit me greatly, it shocked the hell outa me being told my blood pressure was high, probably because i didnt know what it meant but it spurred me to do something about it. i joined my local SW group and have lost 1.9stones my blood pressure is lower than it has been for years i now drink in moderation never go out drinking like i used to i prefer a film and a couple of drinks afterwards. i am saving £102 a month and thoroughly enjoying the new me.
SW imo is money well spent and if we stopgoing to group and do it on our own we will end up missing out on so much more valuable information in the future because as C31 says the money wont be there for research.

  • Hi
Sorry if I sound just a bit tooooo excited about this but I CAN'T BELIEVE TESCO REDUCED FAT EGG MAYO SARNIE FILLER IS FREEEEEEE!!!!!

Right, I am ok now, thanks for that. But seriously I am what my mother would call a very "faddy" eater and don't like any veg (but I can eat SW chips.. he he ) so finding new things to eat is challenging. I don't want to get bored and go back to my old ways. I love the plan and the food and just want to keep going. Escpecially seeing as I am in it for the long haul.

Well done to everyone who is still on the plan

    Luv
