we put alsorts in the SOTW basket as long as it is SW friendly,
savoury rice
pasta n sauce
yoghurts
hi fi bars
you name it if it is SW friendly we put it in so its a lovely variety.
Don't think so - they announced me as SOTW - I had lost 6lb that week, and I have *never* seen a certificate given out  (I have been going since April).
Your group basket sounds lovely - that would be a great treat to win rather than the banged variety of fruit I got. I had to throw nearly 1/3 of it away as I unpacked it - a few pieces had mould on :eek:0 -
Hi, sorry to hi-jack this thread, i don't mean to intrude
i really need to join a slimming club but i am finding it impossible to make the commitment. i have recently become a single parent, and have no spare money for anything at the moment. I work full time, finishing at half 6 everyday and i simply cant get anymore childcare for my dd's. also i just cant spend anymore time away from them, theyre a bit fragile at the moment and i feel guilty enough for working!
i was just wondering if anybody could send me a copy of their slimming world 'rule' book? i would of course pay for the postage/copying/inconvenience. I am quite disciplined once i set my mind to something so think if i can get hold of the diet plan i could shift some of my ample excess weight :rotfl:
I asked for and got one off Freecycle a while back.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Thats really awful, how can people bring such rubbish fruit in? Its meant to be an incentive to lose and get a treat. At my class we also bring in SW freindly (usually free) stuff like past n sauces and tins of toms etc. I won it 4 times and actually discovered some of the things people brought in werent actually syn free (fruit cocktail in syrup) so I realised people must be eating it and thinking it was free.
I also got a certificate with a smiley face on it, i still keep these on my fridge door to remind myself.
Why dont you mention it to your consultant and say it may be more of an incentive to 'win' a variety of stuff, it can be cheap too, a tin of toms can be 20p or cheap beans,:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Hi, can I join? Been trying to lose weight, well, forever. I joined SW last night, and am confused already. I think I'm going to do mainly green because we eat more vege than meat meals, but I tend to eat about 4 slices of bread a day, especially when we have HM veg soup (today). Obviously can't do that now, so I think I'm going to have to rethink my lunches I think. I'm not at all keen on pasta either so I'll buy some couscous.
Can't figure out how many syns or HE my usual wholegrain museli is either.
Does everyone find this confusing (and a big adjustment!) initially?
Jay xx
OH yes I got very confused and didn't have a clue for quite a few weeks and suspected I'd never get the hang of it but as Kandi says - it will satrt to make sense and you can pick up a lot from other members, anyone else you know who does it/has done it and of course all the lovely folk in this thread.
Good luck with it and welcome :T:THate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Hello all,
Went to WI this morning (first one) and lost 6.5lb! Am absolutely shocked and flabergasted. Had to weigh myself twice just to make sure lol.
I know a lot is probably water but still I can feel a bit pleased hey?
Does anyone know how slimmer of the week works?
x
well done you :T:T
Yeah I never understand the half for shift workers lark - also can I be considered shift worker - we have slightly shifted work patterns start at 0830/0900/0930 and finish 1700/1730/1800 - hey it's shifts  :whistle:Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

At our group Slimmer of the Week is the person who the previous week has lost weight or maintained (and I think stayed to class) and then the following week loses the greatest amount of weight and again stays to class. They are rewarded with the basket of fruit/veg/slimming world friendly food items. Each member brings something to class to go in the slimmer of the week basket and sometimes our consultant throws in something too.
You also get a fab certificate and a little sticker. Ive been Slimmer of the Week twice :j and Ive got the certificate on my mantlepiece because in a strange way, if I have the nibbles, it occasionally stops me reaching for something I should eat!!!
sounds like a good description to me.
Many in our group pop the little sticker you get on their book and at ours, imagine same at others, you also get a fridge magnet - which is quite nice as they have encouraging little affirmations on them - which is good for keeping you motivated when you go to the fridge.
I have been SOTW 'bout 6 times now :j:j
The certificate somewhere prominent sounds a good idea Eric :beer:Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

I think the best thing on the website for someone struggling is the food diary feature. You select the day that you want (green or original) and after that, it will only allow you to select food that you are allowed - I found it a great way to get to 'know' the plan.
OOOh didn't know it did that - that's a good idea for noobs , but )for me) not so once you understand it as I often mix2match - that gives soooooo much more flexibility - I feel they don't push/highlight mix2match anywhere near enough - it is such a good thing and makes the whole SW regime so much easier and more manageable for me.
Also quick reminder - I have done my own food diary on a spreadsheet - which is more flexible and has formulae to keep track of syns used for a week (running total) - also have started, though I need to populate it more, a tab for healthy treats alternatives to stop me going for choc or biccies - again if anyone wants this pM me asking for it and let me have your email address.

In case anyone is interested someone at work put me onto this website. If you run or walk for exercise - it's brilliant you can plan routes etc and it tells you distance walked calories burnt etc.
it brings up a Google map and it's child's paly to then plot - I put in a walk I did the other week to see how far I walked and it calculated it at 2.3 Miles :j:jHate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

I should have said - If you use the food diary on the SW website, you can select Original, Green or Mix2Max - a good way for someone to get to know how to do that too0 -
