Morning all :hello:
And well done Angie!
Feeling a bit meh today so it's a good thing I have a veritable fruit stall on my desk at work to tempt me away from the newsagents. One of my colleagues has taken to calling me Pete Bealeand tries to do a cockney accent (he's Irish) he appears to mumble a bit in a nasally voice and the only word you can understand is 'fackin'. The delights of living in Essex ;)
Haivng a bit of a crisis (melodramatic? me?). I can't think of any brekkies and lunches that I want. I'm usually the one with all the ideas, but my mind has deserted me this morning.
*sigh*I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites
It's wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
yes well done angie :j:j:j:j:T:T:T:T:T0

I struggle for breakfast ideas because I dont fancy eating when I first get up and then once I get into work, I cant just pop to the kitchen and knock up whatever I fancy partly because we only have a microwave and a kettle. a typical breakfast for me is a hi fi bar and yogurt. I should eat more fruit really.
I also struggle mainly for red lunch days because if I have bread for lunch and say a hi fi bar as a snack thats both HEB are used up meaning no JP with my tea:mad:
what I do sometimes though is think of what I really fancy whatever it might be and try to make it as SW friendly as I can so that I can have it. I.e I went out for lunch with a friend last week and although I was bad and had a panni (not much choice on the menu) if I fancied this at home, I could have it by swapping the panni bread for 2 slices of HEB bread and swapping the pepperdew peppers which I would have to syn for normal peppers, cheese from HEA allowance etc.
You are good with your fruit. Ive bought the occasional bag of sweets, eaten one or two then given the rest to my work colleagues! If i leave them in my drawer - I end up munching them!!!! I struggle though when its someone's birthday and cakes are bought!!
some lunches that I enjoy are:
Green
Unlimited Jacket Potatoes / Sweet potato, 28g cheese, 85g ham. sweet chili sauce (Synned), salad if I have it.
Unlimited JP. SW tuna pouch (HEB) salad
JP, beans, 28g cheese
Red
HEB Bread spread with Laughing cow trinangles, bacon, sweet chili sauce (syns)
JP, SW tuna pouch (1 syn)
On either day
HEB soup
or homemade soup
Sometimes if Im at home, I might even have a mix to match day and have jacket chips for my lunch (very filling) and then roast for tea.0 -
Hi, sorry to hi-jack this thread, i don't mean to intrude
i really need to join a slimming club but i am finding it impossible to make the commitment. i have recently become a single parent, and have no spare money for anything at the moment. I work full time, finishing at half 6 everyday and i simply cant get anymore childcare for my dd's. also i just cant spend anymore time away from them, theyre a bit fragile at the moment and i feel guilty enough for working!
i was just wondering if anybody could send me a copy of their slimming world 'rule' book? i would of course pay for the postage/copying/inconvenience. I am quite disciplined once i set my mind to something so think if i can get hold of the diet plan i could shift some of my ample excess weight :rotfl:0 -
You can pick 'em up on ebay ***BUT*** the prices I have often see them go for on there it'd be as cheap to join your local group, go to 1 meeting to get the guide - you'll also get advice and a run through of how SW works, and then not go again - they opften have offers on.

I would second what Judderman has said - get to one class (you can take your children if you need to - some mums do), join and pay first class fee (total cost £10 - 15). This will get you all the books, food diaries, rules etc - it will even get you a password for the website which will last 10 days or so while you find you feet with the plan. You will have it all explained to you and you can ask lots of questions.
Personally, I think attending meetings (at least for a month or so) is important, but I understand that financial and other circumstances stop some people being able to.
We will all be happy to support you once you have started (and if you fancy joining in of course) - there are several people here who do not attend class.
You will be *highly* unlikely to get anyone to send you their book - they are also used to record our weight at meetings, and anyone with a 'spare' new one will be flogging it for a fortune on ebay  .Hi, sorry to hi-jack this thread, i don't mean to intrude

Hey all,
Weigh in tonight, fingers crossed I lose what I put on last week! Well I have decided that each week me and hubby are going to cook at least one proper recipe from Slimming World, and just to keep in his good books, one 'fatty recipe'.
So on Monday we did this recipe, CREAMY ASPARAGUS CARBONARA, it was quite nice really (even though hubby said 'where's the meat?):rotfl:.
CREAMY ASPARAGUS CARBONARA
SERVES 4
350g/12oz dried linguine or tagliatelle
400g/14oz asparagus tips
2 eggs
100g/4oz low-fat natural fromage frais
1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
6 tbsp very finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
salt and freshly ground black pepper
fry light for spraying
Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions, drain and keep warm.
While the pasta is cooking, blanch the asparagus tips in a pan of lightly salted boiling water for 3 - 4 minutes, or until just tender. Drain and set aside.
In a mixing bowl beat the eggs lightly and add the froamge frais and garlic. Whisk until well combined and then stir in the chopped parsley. Season well.
Spary a large non-stick frying pan with Fry light and place over a medium-low heat. Add the spaghetti and asparagus to the pan and stir and cook for 2 - 3 minutes until hot. Ppour over the 'carbonara' sauce and gently heat through for 2 - 3 mintues until pasta is well coated. ( Do not allow to boil or the eggs will scramble.) Remove from the heat and serve immediately.
FREE ON BOTH DAYS
(I added some courgette to ours, plus 28g of cheese)

mmmm that sound yummy jolene! Of course you could add a B of chopped bacon next time if he needs his meat fix! (I am assuming this would be a green day meal with that much pasta!)
Thanks for sharing
what will your 'fatty recipe' be this week then ?0
