    Hi all

I am new to this forum and thought I would share a couple of my favourite tips I have picked up in groups:

Stir a spoonful of sugar free mint sauce to low fat greek yoghurt
    or
Take a HEB portion of strong blue cheese such as roquefort and crumble into low fat greek yoghurt. Leave in the fridge overnight for best flavour.

Both make really good dips for chips/crisps/crudites/wedges etc or use them as dressings. They work really well on pasta salads

thanks for all the other tips everyone

  • Hi, another newbie here. Me and my husband are both gonna try the slimming world plan and as the planning and cooking will be up to me I thought I'd pop in and say hello as I'm sure I'll be asking loads of questions in the next few days! In fact, first one coming up!
Can any tell me if I can have the marmite cheese bites instead of Babybel as a healthy extra A?
    Any help much appreciated.

    Sue.

    Afternoon all,

    Hi
    Quick questions:

1 - anyone ever tried cooking rice in a slow cooker?Advice/experience appreciated!

    2 - interesting ways with quinoa?!Anyone?!:rotfl:

    Hi

I use a lot of the grains which are free on green (ie buckwheat, bulgarwheat, quinoa, cous cous, rice) for my lunch box. Cook it cool it and then add loads of salad veg like peppers, carrots, cucumber, tomato, radish, sweetcorn. Anything that's free and crunchy basically. Mix them all together with some balsamic vinegar or other low syn or free dressing. It's really filling and keeps me munching for ages.

Welcome newbies!:T Although I've been doing SW since April I have stayed on Original because it suited me and I felt good on it. This week I have at last tried a few Green days and am enjoying them :j We'll just see if I lose any weight this week.

For my meal tonight I tried the famous SW homemade FREE chips and whole family said they really like them. I made a BIG Salmon & Broccoli SW Free quiche and had that cooled with extra broccoli and the chips. I am trying to use up all the bits in my freezer so for dessert I had a Del Monte Smoothie (Mango flavour) which is 5 syns, while the others ate up some luxury icecream we found lurking there.

Just seen a bit about rice. Haven't had rice for months (but now I'm into Green I might!:p ) but here's how I've done it for years and it's always perfect with no messy saucepans. Probably since microwaves were invented!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

For 4 servings. Put 8 oz rice in a pyrex dish. Add 1 pint of boiling water. Sprinkle in a little salt. I often add in a weeny bit of saffron to make it a lovely soft yellow colour. Stir with fork. Put lid on and place in microwave. Cook on FULL for 4 mins. Stir and cook for further 4 mins. Leave to stand for a little while and then stir with fork.

    Hiya all,

Well first weekend on the plan and it hasnt been too bad. I did have a glass of wine yesterday but it was syned so all in all doing okay.

I made the beef goulash from the mag yesterday in the slow cooker and have to say I wasnt impressed. I dont know whether its the bovril or me just being awkward but it wasnt for me.

Can you suggest some fillings for jacket pots on both red and green days? I hate beans though and cottage cheese so any other suggestions gratefully recieved.

Cheers Sam and good luck for all WI's and well done on those with the losses
  • Jacket potato fillings (not beans or cottage cheese!!)

    red day
hm bolognese (with or without chilli in it!)
    bacon and cheese (A)
bacon and egg mayo (syn the mayo)
    tuna and (synned) mayo
    prawns and (synned) mayo
    grated cheese (A)

    green day
    sweetcorn
    spagetti hoops
    tuna (B)
    grated cheese (A)

    either
    garlic mushrooms
    egg (syn) mayo
    phili (A or B choice)
  • New favourite jacket potato filling is extra light tesco version of philidelphia. Gorgeous and makes a change from cottagebloodycheeseagain.

I attemped to use a macaroni cheese pasta'n'sauce as a topping by cooking it and then blitzing it with a hand blender into a thick cheesy topping. unfortunately it looks like vomit and I couldn't bring myself to eat it so it all went in the bin!

A friend at work has lent me the stricly come dancing exercise video with a warning that it is fast, difficult and frustrating. I might have to sit and watch it first with a cup of tea and a couple of digestives to get a feel for it before trying it out, you understand.....ahem......

Congrats to new people and fabby weight losses...oh and to judders for the great choccy stash declutter. Flylady would be proud lol
