Had 2 very nice Green days and having an Original today.

Been swimming this morning but had a lazy afternoon.

Am going to make a SW Shepherds Pie for tonight - I make one big one for all family members except me with mashed potato topping. I make another for myself with mashed swede and carrot/spring onion topping which I now prefer!! Got to go I'm dribbling on my keyboard!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Sounds wonderful, is carrot and swede good as a topping then?

  • i cheated and used the frater setting on my food processor it took a maximum of 30 seconds to grate about 12 potatoes lol... now i really am a lzy git:rotfl:

No no, that makes you a smart git not a lazy one, I never thought about using the processor - which makes me stoopid as well as lazy :o
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • i have a couple of chinese takeaways that i really enjoy and are very low in syns.
chicken and mushrooms with boiled rice works out at 5 syns for the whole meal but if you are savvy like me and share it it works out at 2.5syns a meal.
king prawn and ginger and spring onion is the same as the above so i do the same again. i get a whole portion of rice to myself and my DD gets a rice for herself too and we share the main portion.
EDIT... there are quite a few low syn chinese meals if you look at the menu properly, anything in a light sauce is good like chicken and brocoli with boiled rice, or go for a chop suey (i think) which is mainly bean sprouts and veg. Stay away from the sweet and sour or the curries as they are ladened with syns.

Carrot and swede make a much tastier topping than potato and is syn-free on a green day.

It's nice with a variety of other syn-free veg too - mashed parsnip, turnip, leeks, onions can all be added or used in any combination to make a topping.

Making your own fried rice is very easy (and tastier than boiled IMO). Take your ready cooked rice, add to a hot wok (or deep frypan) with Frylight. Sprinkle Soy sauce in and add finely chopped onion, a handful of frozen petit pois. Stir regularly till it's very hot. Meanwhile whisk an egg or two and make an omelette. When cooked, turn out of the pan, roll up and slice finely. Add this to the fried rice and mix together.

I find this very filling and it's syn-free as a green day meal with a HEB of prawns or meat.

  • carrot and swede mash is free on both days isnt it?

I am pleased to anounced that a penguin is 5 1/2....did not taste any where near good enough to justify being that many sins!
But still have enough to have one yorkie with my "free" beef casserol.

  • Hello,
I am a newbie here. very excited at the htought of going to a group this week. I have a couple of friends that have been telling me how good it is and another who has given me a couple of books.
Does anyone a have a code or something so that I canlook on the website - really keen to prep myself.
I am doing my weekly shop tomorrow ( before the group) so it would be handy to know someof the things I should stockup on and those to definately avoid.
    Thanks in advance
