just a quicky, is it necessary to have some syns each day?
The official line is *yes* minimum 5 a day. I aim for 8 - 12 a day.
Anecdotally, there are people in class who occasionally don't use any syns for a week and they find their loss slows down (or even gain!)
Even on fast forward (which is ultra strick uber SW plan), some of the units are used on treats - things that would be synned on the normal plan.
Personally I think a 'little bit of what you fancy' or 'little and often' for me, I am less likely to binge or crave food if I have a little treat daily - I look forward to my glass of wine / G&T / friday night cocktail (spot the theme?)0 -

We all struggle from time to time - I hope that you do stay with it for a while longer - you joined for a reason, and whilst the journey may be long and difficult at times, you have made a good start.
The hardest part (for me) has been the change into understanding that 'treating myself with food' and 'yummy food' doesn't have to mean eating 'bad' or 'unhealthy' food. I have noticed how much better I feel when I eat healthier food - sure I miss the convenience of fast food, but I have made real efforts to include that 'style' of food in my diet, just a healthier, SW version... and believe me, I can fall off the rails quite dramatically, but I have to just plan the next day, and wake up knowing the day ahead will be my new start.
What food do you miss niceday? Is it possible that we could 'SW' it for you so you can have it anyway?
For example, on Friday night this week we will be having a curry night, so I have planned for that day to be green and have hit the cookbooks for ideas - yes, it means planning it all out, (certainly not as quick as calling for a takeaway  ) but I can look forward to it, and by saving my syns I will wash it down with a (shared!) bottle of red
<sending you some hugs>0 -
Today's menu - Red again
B Yogurt (F) and banana (SF) tea, milk from HA
tea - lots!
L 2 slices WM toast from 400g loaf (HB), grilled bacon and two poached eggs
D swordfish steaks (F) with roasted peppers (SF), courgettes (SF), red onion (SF) and some mini roast potatoes (skins on) made with HB of potatoes.
syns - probably a G&T (2.5) and a glass of red (175 = 6syns)
water - only 500ml so far - shall grab a bottle now0 -
well done you lot - and for those struggling - please try to stick with it, it's when you stop following the plan that it all comes back with a vengeance.
Todays Menu for me:
Brekkie 2 weetabix & 250ml S/S Milk (HA)
Snack satsuma, handful grapes
Lunch Pack Ryvita Minis (HB) and small pot Eat Smart Cottage Cheese (Free), Muller light and a banana (free)
Dinner Jacket potato with extra light laughing cow (in place of butter) (HA) and beans
