New to SW this week, have done ok through the week although I keep getting myself in a right state about what I am going to eat.
Tonight though I am going for a curry with friends.
Looking in my book, I can have a lamg rogan josh for 6.5 syns, it doesn't say anything about chicken, would that be the same?
Also could I have a seekh kebab if they have done it on the coals and not fried it as that would be just meat wouldn't it.
Also I haven't had any b choices, could I have a chapati.
I know my first week and already having a curry but am trying to do it as syns but am stuck, I need to get ready to go but I am too busy thinking about what to eat. I like my curry with sauce.
Thanks
Jules
On a red day I imagine all the syns are in the sauce anyway. On a green day... not sure whether lamb and chicken would be the same syn value - if anything, I'd think the chicken would be less syns because it's less syns per ounce than lamb (I think) so I wouldn't worry too much and have the chicken for the same syns!
The kebab - depends if it's just meat or not. Some kebabs will be minced meat which might be quite fatty, and have fat added to it. Also you would probably have to ask them not to cook it with fat
You can't have a chapati as a HE, I'm afraid.0 -
Oh also:
Basic/Non Branded Foods Indian Restaurant, Chapati, average each each
Original 7½ Syns
Green 7½ Syns

Hi guys
Hmm... I guess what I'm asking is... has anyone had experience of moving groups and how easy it is? I'd like to keep my record as it motivates me just looking at the tumbling numbers.
You are going to SW for you and you have to do whats best for you!
I would move, I have been to lots of different SW classes and I have only ever found 1 that I felt comfortable with. Tell her that you cant make that night or something if you dont want to be blunt. But I just said that I didnt feel comfortable and that I would like to try another class and she passed my records on to another consultant. She was fine with it, obviously she didnt want to lose my fee each week, but if she had made a fuss I would have left anyhow. Im quite blunt so didnt find it hard but i know some people do.You can stand there and agonize........

I moved class, and I am SOOO glad I did.
I didn't even tell the leader I was leaving (she had been really unsupportive etc), I simply turned up to another class in the area. I think it is worth going to another one first (I was working late/had a birthday do/ couldn't make it so weighed in somehwere else) just to check you are happy to jump ship, but I had such a warm welcome, I showed my book and I was welcomed immediately - they made me a new sheet (and copied over my starting details etc) After a few weeks they said 'are you here to stay' I said yes, and I haven't looked back!
I didn't feel like burning my bridges, as on one occasion it was more conveient to attend 'old' class, but as it turned out, the leader had been replaced.
good luck with the move - sounds like it will be worth it0 -
Hi I notice a couple of pages back a few people were talking about snacks, this is something i make and pop in the fridge when peckish on a green day.
Make up a packet and sauce according to the pack but instead of marg i put in a light laughing cow triangle then once its cooked I whisk an egg through it then pop in a dish leave to cool and cut into squares, its a bit like a quiche. I try not to eat too many pasta n sauces as I dont believe them to be particualiry (sp) healthy but I usually have this in the fridge and keeps my munchie pangs away. and its free on a green day (you could leave out the laughing cow):santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
not sure if anyone has posted this but i just wanted to drop in and say hello and i saw that this week in morrisons the low fat supernoodles (free on a green day) are on bogof.
hope this is useful to someone...0 -
Hi guys
Need some advice and reassurance I think. I've been going to my group since January and I've got to stop going because of changes in my working situation. But I'm really nervous about telling my leader! It's daft really - I never stay for the group as I find it intimidating and feel like I don't fit in that well because I'm quite a lot younger than the others. Silly, I know, but I got annoyed with all the comments about my being a student etc etc and assumptions that I don't know how to cook etc. But I've kept going to be weighed as my motivation was +++ and I've lot over 4 stone. I'm thinking I might just leave and not bother to move to another group, but I know that's a bad idea... I've already put a couple of pounds on this week after missing last week.

It's not a problem to change groups, but if you were my member, I would prefer that you said you were leaving (for whatever reason) than that you just disappeared. Just say you need a group closer to work, or on another day/time - I have gained and lost many members for these reasons, it's really not unusual. If you ask for your weight record sheet it will make the transition easier for you.
Thank you Pennylane for those kind words - I appreciate itI shall try the idea of a theme around the password, thanks!
I suggested a swap-shop for clothing ages ago at my group and got quite a frosty reception from some members who are obviously not into MSE :rotfl: so we never took it any further......seems a shame to me but there you go!
Eth, I wouldn't worry about sounding cheeky, if you have an idea to make your group more interesting, tell your Consultant, we are none of us so good we don't need help from time to time.
My groups are evening ones and if I kept the members for 2 hours I'd have a mutiny on my hands, especially with these cold, dark nights. We start at 7pm (though several members come early for a good natter first) and we've always finished for 8pm. We skim quickly through the individual weight losses/gains then go onto any news or interesting 'doings', I hand out recipes etc and that's about it. In retrospect it sounds boring, but we do seem to have lots of laughs.
Incidentally, the clapping for members who gain tends to be in praise of them coming to group even though they're often a little upset and embarrassed. It's all to easy to think "I'll miss this week and get the weight off then go back next week" when we all know that's the beginning of the slippery slope!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Good idea about trying out other classes beforehand - there's actually a lot where I'm moving to, I've actually got a choice now.

Thanks. I know it's more polite to say why, just gotta work up to saying something. Actually, the time of the group is difficult too - we're down for starting at 6.30 but never do until 7, and never finish by 8. I may be nit-picking here!0
