Hey everyone - not posted here for a while - have now reached my target and have lost 2st

Cooked Coq Au Vin last night - got recipe from SW magazine - it was 2.5 syns on red and was absolutely gorgeous!!! It was like eating restaurant food! :)

Am now worried though - I have lost the weight I wanted to and am now chuffed with how I look - I just hope I can keep it off.

I was thinking about doing SW in the week and then relaxing it (not going mad) at the weekends?

Anyone got any advice? Thanks :D
  • Ok,this week I've lost 1/2 a lb.....:T

......and decided to return to the fold,as it were.

From today I'm back on the SW train.

I missd bread and cheese too much on core plan!:rotfl:

    Hello!! :j

Can I ask a quick question, did you join a WW thread? I have only found one which is very slow moving at the moment, and could do with picking WW people's brains.. as well as staying on this one, if that's ok with everyone? :o

I think SW advice is just to increase your HE's until you find a balance where you're not gaining or losing. It depends how strong your willpower is. It would be a slippery slope for me to think I can do what I want at the weekends!

Im not much of a cook but I did have my "I want to cook head on today" so I made the Beef Goulash featured in the new SW mag and also the lamb shank recipe featured in the calendar although I substituted the lamb shanks for Mr T healthy eating lamb escalopes as thats all I had.

I followed the recipes adding more veg than listed for my lamb dish and simmered the two meals on my hob for over 2 hours.

Now my OH doesnt eat lamb so he had the goulash and whilst my lamb was nice, it had no real kick or heat to it. I guess if I want it a bit spicy, the trick would be to add curry powder or chillies perhaps?

The main thing though is that BOTH were quite watery and even now they are cold and stuck in the fridge / freezer, they both still seem very watery. For the beef goulash I added 400 ml stock and for the lamb dish 200ml stock (thats what it said to add in the recipe) I thought the longer you cooked something, the thicker the sauce would get but this didnt happen here. Should i just add less stock next time or is there something else Im doing wrong? Oh I added a tin of tomatoes in both cases so there would have been extra water (well tomato juice) here.

    SOUNDS YUMMY:D
marinating the lamb will help and you could use chicken/turkey
crush some garlic and chillies or cheat..i use lazy garlic and chicken, already chopped/mashed..
or curry paste..but syns on that option

i do this with a meat stew
lamb mince/cook and marinate with garlic and chillies for an hr
add frozen veg pack ie brocolli an cauliflower..carrots,spinach
    cook so it boils down
i use big pressure cooker with 4-6 cups water
    add spices like chives
    oxo
    or stock
before the end of cooking add another bag of veg til soft
    serve with
    mashed butternut squash/carrot
this is like a spicy stew very warming;)

    Hi Naturally,
No I never bothered with WW forums cos I'm happy with the support I get here (and SWCLUB:D ) and everyone was happy for me do my own thing for a while.....I can give you limited advice about the core plan as I never had the supermarket buying guide, they had run out when I joined so I got 'cook' instead!I was online with them so could check everything there if I needed to.Feel free to pm me if you want advice, though if it's the points plan you want to know about,I know nothing.....google WW and you will find loads of info,it's just sifting through it that takes time:rotfl:
    :T:jHalf a stone off,only another 2 to go!:j:T
