Okay, welcome to my regular weekend confessional.
I've had a bad ish week, have been good for ages and done nothing but maintain so I thought I'd have a cream cake on Wednesday which I did and that was fine. Thursday we all went to TGI Fridays, brushetta, veggie burger and chips and a cocktail, syns probably off the scale. Friday took day off and took Mum for breakfast then had lunch at, er Burger King and had a fairly syn fee tea. Now just for the record I don't normally eat like that and I never did before SW apart from when starving to death at service stations. Anyway, felt a bit bad anyway. This morning I awoke to find the tennants next door had thrown a used condom over onto the patio I immediately felt sick and couldn't eat anything or even sip water without gagging. DH managed to sort it all out and later took me to Sainsburys, he bought some hot corss buns which I hate but my the time we left I was ravenous ans tucked into one which turned into 2 on the way home, agh more syns. Had risotto for late lunch and got on with life. Then went round to friends at 7pm for tea, very SW friendly meal, quorn chilli with jacket spud and rice, snuck in a piece of garlic bread but suddenly felt awfully, uncomfortably full. The pudding arrived, apple studel, home made so I thought I'd have a bit to be polite, big mistake, had about a quarter and felt quite poorly, helped clear the table, nipped upstairs to the loo, came down and announced I needed some fresh air, friend stuggled to open the door and managed it just in time for me to hurl big time outside. Oh the shame! This is the first time ever I've been ill from overeating, so I've decided not to count the syns in the pud because it was only in me for a few minutes. Oh the shame. _pale_
To give a bit of background, I have never eaten much and have always been really picky. Weight gain I mainly put down to booze as a student.
Thanks for the therapy all xxx:staradmin0 -

Morning everyone
I have been given some home grown rhubarb - now I seem to recall from some earlier postings that unless I eat it raw  i have to syn it. I have never been a big lover of rhubarb but was too polite to say no so was going to try sticking in a saucepan and reducing it with some water but of course this means (I think) that I have to syn it and the last thing I want to do is use all my syns on some rhubarb. any suggestions gratefully received.0 -

And hi fellow SWers
I can't believe how quickly the weeks are passing by, Oh yes forgot to mention my books came, from the hotline, they are excellent. Igot the directory 2008 and the 100 comfort foods.
So I was going to ask, what books do you have and would you recommend them or not????
Mel x
I have quite a few of the books but most of them have been bought and have been shoved on a bookshelf where they are now gathering dust!!! I do have the Curry Feast book however and I would highly recommend this one especially if you are a big curry lover. The saucy secrets book is also a good buy because it has lots of ideas which you can adapt.0 -

Thanks Flat Eric, I definately want the curry one, we have a curry every saturday night. Although we haven't had take-away for years I always used to use the pataks jars, then last year I started to scratch cook (OS).
I will get the saucy one too, are the recipes in this complicated I thought I read somewhere the list of ingredients are rather long.
Mel xUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0 -
Hi Everyone
It's so good to read your posts. I'm a Pommy girl who now lives in Sydney and was searching for a way to access the Syn's website for freewhen I saw this link on Google.
I lost 4 stones when I did this diet in the UK but have piled the weight back on again (aaaghhh!) and so am back on the wagon. Very hard here though as not sure what processed food is free. Used to live on Stag Chilli, Baked Beans (which I can get here) and Sainsburys noodles but I'm not sure whether the ingredients are the same as they are in the UK so they may not be Syn free here.......Any other expats with the same probs?
Anyhoo, the "diet" begins tomorrow. I have a stack of cooked meat and have made a Syn free spaghetti (B) meatballs and have high hopes.
Wish me luck!

I found this Flat Eric, hope it helps, I love rhubarb....send it my way.....you could always stew it without sugar and then add sweetener to taste. Or, if there is loads, you could freeze it.
