STS for me this week. I suppose with DD's birthday it's to be expected, but still an eensy bit disappointed. The needle on the scales was wiggling a bit, but mine are no way sensitive enough to claim a legit 0.5lb, so I'll stick to an honest STS LOL.

dux please don't get stressed about your gain. The first time I did SW I gained in the first week and was devestated - sat in class crying my eyes out as I hadn't done anything different to the first week lost 5lbs) - I then went on to lose 3.5stone in just over 5months!

I agree that you shouldn't be 'binging' on any food - even free - but if you're hungry go for your life. I've got to the stage I think I'm going to reduce my portions slightly but I certainly won't be going hungry - I'd give up sooner than that! 3litres of water before weigh in will certainly have made a difference. I drink 0.75/1 litre a day (depends which bottle I take to work) just of water, then I drink what I like - but only when thirsty - not for the sake of it. It still means I drink over 2litres a day which is sufficient.

Thanks for the linky ALV - I'll have a look. I know Mum got a cheap but good one from tesco too so I'll checke them out - but hairdryer comes first. Mine only blows cold now and the one OH lent me has just blown the trip switch twice this morning

    Well done, Kelly!:T

I know how you feel, Dux. So upsetting when you know you have tried hard, but just follow the advice and put the last week behind you. Im sure you will have lost weight at the next weigh-in. I think that most people have weeks where they have gained instead of lost - our bodies are quite complex in the way they operate and we don't always know whats going on in there!

Flat Eric, the SW Beef casserole is: Peel and fry 12 shallots and set aside. Slice 2 carrots, place in the pan with 1lb 4oz braising steak (fat removed), 1 tbs tomato puree, bouquet garni and 852ml/1½ pints water. Cover and simmer for 1½ hours. Cut in half 6oz mushrooms and add this to the casserole with the shallots and simmer for another half an hour. Sprinkle over 2 level teaspoons onion gravy granules and stir until thick. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.

Much tastier than packet stuff! (this recipe has ½ syn on original and 4½ syns on green - 6 syns on green if not using as healthy extra).

You say that you wouldnt be without it. Im not much of a cook so the only thing i can think of using it for would be to puree soup and just wondered what other uses you had for it as you say you use it every other day...

Hope you don't mind me butting in :) - I've got one of these too, and although I don't use it everyday, it is useful and more convenient than a blender. I use it to 'mash' swede and carrots and to make breadcrumbs as well as pureeing soups.

  • I had weigh in last night and 1/2 lb gain, so 1 and 1/2 lb's gain last week and then 1/2 lb this week. I'm just slighlty disheartened. I know I have been incredibly bad as having v stressful few weeks(this is just an excuse to binge, why do I do it, really need to get a hobby to keep me busy!) things are on the up though so am going to get right back on it.

I am in the middle of cooking carrot and ginger soup which I will then blend with my hand blender. Would highly recommend getting one:o .

Well done everyone, losers, STS and for us gainers lets get right back on the straight and narrow!

    Beef Daube (french beef casserole)

    Free on Red

    Preheat oven to 170/Gas3

In a non stick fry pan seal 700g lean stewing beef til brown (diced into big pieces) on all sides.

Transfer to an oven safe casserole pan with 2 chunky chopped onions, 3 or 4 chunked carrots, 2 crushed garlic, turnip (I didn't), 600ml of beef bovril stock and 2 tsp dried herbs (I used herbes de provence, but mixed is fine). season well.

Cover tightly and cook for 2 hours in the oven

I have just tried the new limited edition mullerlight lemon and passionfruit yogurt.

Overall its tasty although it has quite a kick to it! If you tried the lemon cheesecake mullerlights when they were around, its tastes very much like this but is has much more of a kick to it.

Ive been thinking for a naughty easy treat adding a tesco ginger biscuit to a mullerlight to make a kind of cheesecake. the biscuit when I looked it up was either 2 syns or 2 1/2 syns . I think this lemon and passionfruit yogurt woudl work well in my cheesecake receipe...

    nb the yogurt is free

Ok, confession time! I'm desperate to have toad in the hole for dinner tonight. Got my free Morrisons sausages, but is there any way I can make the batter SW better? So far its 20syns for the lot (flour is 112g = 20 syns) so 10 syns for me, milk as my HEa and egg free. I'm guessing I can't use frylight as it won't get hot enough so oil too (I hope a HEb olive oil is enough!). Any ideas? I haven't used any syns yet today so not too worried unless there's something I've missed?
  • Hi all, I started SW on Monday, it's my first time on this and hopefully I'm doing it right:o Have skimmed through the whole thread and can say I'm really encouraged by what I've read :j hugs to you all and thank you for such a great thread:T
