Hi, i was wondering if anyone knows if Sainsburys British Beef lean Steak mince has a syn value? I made a cottage pie last night from the recipe online but it said to use extra lean mince. Any ideas anyone? Can't find it on the website or in my book. Thanks. Jess.0

i cant find the mince either on the SW website. I looked under basic non branded foods and the above came up so thats perhaps a rough guide.....
you can also use the syn calculator by entering the nutrional information found on the mince packaging. The mince would have a free food allowance (you will see what I mean when you click on the link which you can find next to the syns online option.

I have weigh in tonight and im dreading it! i have been weighing myself countless times at home today and my scales (which are pretty accurate and often give the same reading as the SW scales show a weight gain of 3 1/2 pounds  2 1/2 pounds if i wear my slimming world weigh in clothes. :embarasse
There is no excuse, I havent been sticking to the plan but im shocked at how easily it goes back on!
Im very tempted to just weigh in and run so that I can avoid the wrath of my consultant but deep down I know that the ultimate challenge is despite the big mishap, i must get right back on the straight and narrow which means staying to class and holding my head in shame at all the naughty treats I have consumed.......
i will update you as to how I get on after my class tonight :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks, i've entered the information from the packet of mince and it's worked out to be 15 syns for the 500g pack - oh dear, nevermind, lesson learnt! Thought it was a bit to nice!0

Blimey!   There's a hidden syn right there! I very nearly picked up 'normal' mince instead of the very lean on Friday to save money, but I wonder how many of us in the past have consumed these syns without quite realising! (And I have to say OH tipped a LOT of fat even out of the extra lean!)0 -

hi everyone, didn't make it onto the pc last night, but went to WI and gained half a pound last night. Its the first time ive put on since I started going and its the most dreadful feeling in the world
I know its only half a pound and I should get it back, but having to sit there and explain it, I never want to do that again! The only thing I can put it down to is Tunes as I had a huge cold last week and they were the only thing I could have to make me breathe again, but I know they are really high in syns. Hopefully will get back on track this week, its made me more determined than ever to lose this weight. So far today I've had 1 syn (tablespoon of extra light salad cream) and hoping thats how its gonna stay! You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
Can anyone tell me if the syn values in the 100 comfort foods recipe booklet is the same if I use one of the meats as my HEB for example?
A lot of them seem quite high but then on looking I think a chunk of this is from meat or cheese but it doesn't say that you can reduce it by 7 for a HEB portion..
many thanks
Syn values in the recipe books don't normally take into account HEs so if you can take the meat (or bread/pasta, whatever) as a HE then you can reduce the syn value by that amount (does that make sense?)I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
