Just had a thought about the swede saga...
Do you think an electric carving knife would work?0 -
D'ya know - I didn't even think about that! Yes I should have got the electric knife out! i will next time if OH isn't around! :rotfl:0

Skint Catt have you thought about using butternut squash as topping for shepherds pie,it is very nice.Slice in 1" circles then peel off skin(it is easiest this way) Micro for 8 mins, and mash - lovely0
-
I've never tried butterneut squash so don't know if I like it. I did think about it, but didn't want to waste it if I hated it (I've only just got used to swede but couldn't eat all that tonight without gagging either!)0

Butternut squash is totally yummy. I would be surprised if you couldn't find a way to enjoy it. I have heard it said that it is 'as versatile as a potato' - so that might give you some ideas.
The seeds (much like the seeds in a melon) are found in the rounded part, towards one end. The 'straighter end' is likely to be seed free. Cut it along its length and you will see quickly what to do with it.
My fave ways are:
not peeled, but cut into wedges, sprayed with frylight and roasted in the oven for about 30 mins (max) - lovely with a roast as an alternative to pots/parsnip, or stirred through pasta.
peeled and chunked, added to a chopped onion, covered with stock and boiled for about 30 mins till tender. whizz - goes really creamy and smooth - add cumin or chilli for a spicy kickSuperfree creamy, hearty soup
(peeled) steamed and mashed0 -

morning everyone :hello:
I am having a red day today. so breakfast is toffee hi fi bar and :coffee:
lunch is 2 slices of what i hope is slimming world friendly bread (warburton healthy choices wholemeal) spread with laughing cow extra light triangles, bacon and sweet chili sauce.
snacks of raspberries and no doubt a chocolate treat!
tea is lamb escalopes with baby leaf spinach and roasted veg and synful oxo lamb gravy!
i bought some leeks which I have never cooked with before - can I roast these?
i hope everyone has a good day. im caught between a rock and a hard place because i have all these synful food items in my fridge / freezer / cupboards but want to get back into SW properly so i can get down to target (Abouth another half a stone to go) this means i really shouldnt eat these food items but I cant afford not to so am thinking along the lines of one night each week to eat something I shouldnt really be eating....0 -
Hi Eric,
As you are roasting your veg anyway, chop the leeks into 2cm ish think chunks and mix them in with the other roasted veg. The whitest part is the best, but dont waste all the green - if it is still fairly tightly coiled it is fine, once it starts getting loose, compost it
hope you enjoy - your dinner sounds yum0 -

The thing about coke is the fact that you can clean oil off your driveway with it and use it to clean the loo etc  Why would you also pour something that toxic down your throat?
Oh, and it rots your teeth so I'll leave you with that image - toothless but with spotless insides :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Skint-catt - please don't think you need (or even ought) to go without syns. This is not following Food Optimising and is almost always counter-productive long-term.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Has anyone gone back and done a week one i.e. been absolutely strict and sticking to plan 100%, if so did it make a big difference to your weight loss?
Yes and yes
Your first weeks weight loss is made up of fat and water (mainly water really) but if you've been off plan for a while previously and then go back to your basic 100% plan it will work again.
insincere - your superfree week is an excellent idea as a quick boost, but do remember that it's not what SW intend as a long term healthy eating plan.
Although you said you ate only superfree food, I hope that doesn't mean you did without your HEs? If you did that may be what's making you feel a bit low. If you follow a diet which is too strict at the beginning, there's not much room for error (or a blow-out) and as a normal human being you do need to have treats now and again or you'll get cheesed off and pack in altogether.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
