many thanks. i have spotted in quite a few recipes this mention of a cup of ...... what measurement is a cup?
I have a receipe for scan bran cake and that asks for a cup of canderal but Im not sure how much canderal that means!0 -
the weekend is almost upon us again and this is the time when I struggle the most.....
This is when the wine gets poured unmeasured, the yummy deserts from marks and sparks grow little legs and trot into my basket and all the naughty foods I have in my freezer magic themselves into my oven.
now im not expecting to become a :A overnight and have a completey syn free weekend but I thought I would ask other members how they cope at the weekends or during the times when you are ever so tempted by the treats and the naughty foods that you ate without any thought before slimming world.
What is your ulimate comfort food both snacks, main meals and puddings?
my favourite slimming world comfort food is ham, eggs, and slimming world chips but sometimes i can overeat this and it loses its comfort appeal so im after some other options where I can quite literally stuff my face but not feel guilty about it!
im still working on the ultimate comfort pudding. I often try to make so many jacket chips that I dont feel hungry for pudding but i still get that "i want some chocolate/sweet feeling"
would be interesting to hear your views/comments

I would use a measuring cup and measure 8 oz for 1 cup. Saying that a cup of canderel in a scan bran cake sounds like an awful lot! I only use a large tablespoon in the recipe I use and it tastes very nice!
5 scan brans broken up and boiling water poured over (just enought to cover - then mash it up with a fork, if any hard bits remain add a wee bit more water)
To this mixture add 2 eggs - mix with fork
then add 1 - 2 tablespoon mincemeat ( 2 or 4 syns )
1 tablespoon canderel - heaped
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix altogether, stick in a microwave for 4 minutes 10 seconds.
I put mine in silicone muffin containers so I get 6 little cakes - lovely!

i bought some pudding rice. now it said online this was free (on green) - but thinking about it now - is it really free and has anyone got any suggestions for any recipes for a satisfying filling treat.
whilst we are on the subject, what do you do if you fancy something sweet? im after some suggestions for some easy cheap deserts that are as synfree as possible........
There's a recipe for rice pudding here - it uses one HEa per serving for the milk and syns if you add jam, but that's it (and it's yummy!)
When I fancy something sweet I usually have fruit and muller light, but it does get a bit boring. I also make low syn 'mousse' with sugar free jelly and muller light - dissolve the jelly crystals in a small amount of boiling water, then top up to about half a pint with cold water. Add 2 muller lights (the same flavour as the jelly is good, but you can experiment!), whisk with an electric mixture until it starts getting frothy. Chill in the fridge, whisking every 15 minutes or so until it starts to set, then pour into dessert dishes. When set, you can add a topping of fromage fraise and some fruit.
For only five syns per serving you could try this recipe - one of Consultant's, and it really passes as a 'full fat' pudding! I've served it to non slimming friends as a dessert and they think it's full of cream.

p.s. Note to all - there's this great thread with loads of slimming world recipes, all indexed so they're easy to find. Anyone can add their recipes, so if you've got one to share, why not post it there too.Start BMI - 38.7 Current BMI - 31.2 Target BMI - 26.30 -
It has been brought up in our class before that some of our members enjoy a bottle of wine at the weekend. Obviously a bottle of wine is a lot of syns.....
A bottle of wine is 24 syns, so if I was planning a big night out I might decide that I would limit myself to no more than 1 bottle of wine and call them flexible syns.
