Flat Eric - Is it possible to count the synful foods as syns? Or are they SYN-FULL foods!!? If it's possible I would do as you suggest and have some each day but count the syns in them.

I've never tried butterneut squash so don't know if I like it. I did think about it, but didn't want to waste it if I hated it (I've only just got used to swede but couldn't eat all that tonight without gagging either!)

Supermarkets do small quantities of butternut squash in the prepared veg section, which would be enough to give you a taste without wasting a whole one. They're much nicer than swede, in my opinion. Ther're sweeter, and a bit nutty.

consultant - don't get me wrong I couldn't do the superspeed thing for more than a few days, but if it gives me a boost in the right direction I'm all for it! It;s just taken me so long to get moving again I would like one good loss, so really get me remotivated!

I've noticed the prepared butternut squash sells out quickly. My local Sainsbury's doesn't sell it prepared, but Tesco does. When I made the Squash and Spinach Curry from the booklet free with the magazine, I had to buy one and prepare it myself. That does take a bit of time. I agree that butternut squash is really nice, and there's quite a few recipes available where you can use it.

Go for it - a boost could do you the world of good, but it's not necessary to do it for long. Fast Forward is along these lines and that's a great boost when you feel the need, but again, only intended for a couple of weeks at most.

You're doing well, don't forget the story about the tortoise and the hare....... slow but sure :T

Last few days I've been so rushed off my feet at work I've been having a decent breakfast, then fruit and a yogurt for lunch/snacks, then a main meal in the evening. I've not been hungry on it, at least until this sort of time in the afternoon, but am wondering if it's ok, or if I should be having a proper "meal" at lunchtime? Would doing fruit and yogurt on a regular basis slow things down? Hopefully things will start to calm down a bit at work soon, so I could eat better midday if necessary, but it will probably still be mad for the next week or so I think.
  • Hope these motivational musings may just hit the spot for someone:-

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.

Commitment leads to action. Action brings your dream closer.

    Ideas without action are worthless.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.

Knowledge is power, but enthusiasm pulls the switch.

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
    Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

This should be fine as long as you're having lots of healthy free foods with the two 'decent meals' you are getting. As long as you're not getting too hungry, carry on. :T

I've been wondering the same thing as 2cats1kid, so I'm glad she asked!
