Ilovemoneysaving wrote: »Hello All,
I will be starting SW in September, after my holiday. Have brought a couple of magazines and noticed that fry light is used. I got some on Saturday:eek: and was a bit shocked at the price. I am sure it is easy to make your own so I have just got a plastice spray container from Wilkinsons 49p and wondered if anyone else had made up a solution with water and olive oil? If anyone has, what measure would you use? I am think 1 part oil to 5 parts water, but not sure.
What a lovely thread this is I can't wait to be able to contribute to it!!

I have made it using 1 part olive oil to 3 parts water but don't forget to give it a good shake before each use.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Skint Catt - try not to get too down,:grouphug: I know it is hard when it doesn't seem to shift.
We discussed exactly this at class tonight (I, and many others, stayed the same this week), and the old favourites were suggested / mentioned -
:staradmin write everything down for one week
:staradmin Make sure you ARE using all your As and Bs - get the book out!
:staradmin try changing from red to green or vice versa, shake it up a bit
:staradmin for one week weigh ALL your A's and B's.. be strict :A
:staradmin plan your meals (all of them) for the week ahead
:staradmin find someone in class to have a challenge with (currently we have a 10lb in Sept challenge on - I don't stand a chance, but I have a 'who will lose the most' challenge with the girl I sit next to.....this could get competitive!)
maybe something here will help?? You would be really missed if you tried something else, and beyond that, I am sure you can do it - remember, as you have said to many of us, 0.5lb OFF is better than 0.5lb ON
This really is great advice. The past 3 weeks I have stayed the same, then lost 0.5, then another 0.5. I've made sure this week I've done all of the above and hope to see some kind of result at my weigh in tomorrow! :j
Have just tried the cheesy baked potatoe, they were lovely so thanks consultant310 -
Skint_Catt I've just written a mega-long post and lost the b**** thing so here's the short version.
Success Express is easy once you've mastered it (just like red and green when you first started SW). The main thing to remember is to have one third of your plate with a mix of red day and green day food (like say, steak & mash) and the other two thirds full of superfree foods (those free on both plans) like cabbage, carrots, cauli etc or of course a large salad.
All starters, desserts or snacks must be superfree (Mullerlight springs to mind along with fruit). You still get your HEs and up to 15 syns just as you do now. One point............no towers of food allowed
Also you could have a three course meal following the same principle:-
Starter - Home made superfree veg soup
Main course - Jacket potato filled with prawns
Dessert - Fresh fruit salad
Try having a glass of water (or s/f squash) 20 mins before each meal to help fill you up...........this is one of my own strategies and it works for me.
PS:- are you eating enough? Stupid question maybe, but I have several members who have to be reminded that it doesn't work if you're not having 3 good meals a day.
Give it another week, using Success Express every day and I bet you it will start your weight loss adain. You're welcome to pm me if you want a few more meal ideas.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I had weigh in last night stayed the same which was not bad after w/e of badness, but ended up having sweet and sour chicken in batter with fired rice and onion rings for dinner, then thought back on track today!
However, so far today had s/w brekkie, then white roll with banana(not too bad), then white roll with cheese and onion crisps(getting worse), then pack of doritos(really getting worse) and lastly a s/w choc/orange cereal bar, oh and forgot to mention have also had a bout 10 choch fingers and its only 4 o'clock!
What does everyone else do when they have off days like today, how do you get back on track, I find that I usually end up having quite a bad week if my treats go over into a second day. I have only lost 8 lb's in 4 months but am stcking at it. I don't know if slow weight loss is due t having PCOS if anyone else suffers and finds there weight loss slow due to PCOS please let me know.

Get out your books and re-read them to remind yourself why you want to do this. Read any old mags you have to reignite your motivation. Make yourself a for and against list (reasons you want to slim against things that would stop you). Keep reading the forum and post when you're down (preferably before you eat the bread, crisps and chocolate, lol).
PS: PCOS can affect the rate of loss but will not stop you losing if you stick rigidly to the plan.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi All
I am going to go and start SW again next week (they have classes locally to me on a monday ) I havent been for about 2 years (lost some weight before i got married) so i still have lots of recipe books etc. I found SW really easy to follow, so im excited about getting started, i have since tried SW without going to class (as i couldnt drive & had no way of getting there- but now i can drive theres no stopping me!) and i it didnt work- well i would cheat big time- so this time round i am really going to try hard- i am aiming to lose a stone by christmas, which is not too hard a target i dont think! Now im debt free i want to be fat free too!0 -

Hi Missty,
I have pcos and it certainly doesn't make losing weight easy!I find having mostly red days useful as this limits refined carbs which for pcos sufferers is a big no-no.I generally only lose 1/2 a lb a week if I'm lucky but I haven't been exercising lately and have been having too many green days (and the odd flexi!) too.The result is that, after gaining 1/2 a lb on monday,it has taken me 11 weeks to lose 4.5 lbs! However,in the past I have struggled far more to lose nothing so I can't complain!
As for you having a few too many naughties,we all do it,especially at holiday time. The trick is to treat yourself as you would others.Would you scream and shout and think badly if a friend had written the same thing as you?Or would you understand and tell them not to worry about it and to start again tomorrow?I fairly certain I know the answer!Don't you deserve the same respect and empathy?!
Good luck with the rest of the week!

Hello everyone, I found this thread last night and read half then and have spent most of today reading the other half (just speed reading) so I feel like I know you all already. I'm another Tractor Girl, btw, and so is DD(10).
I did (my version) of SW about 6 years ago and lost 2 stones in a year. I say my version, as I don't always go 100% by the book, but I figure if it's working for me, that's fine, and if I get stuck I can go by the book and hopefully it will kick start again.
I have been struggling a bit with health problems recently (asthma and IBS) and have joined a leisure club as swimming seems to help, but I have been seeing what foods are triggers and have put on weight in the process. UnfortunatelyI also discovered the OS board and their wonderful jams, jellies, HM bread and fruit crumbles, so the weight has gone on big style.
Yesterday DD and I were shopping for outfits for a wedding and I have totally lost all my dress-confidence, and when I did muster the courage to try things on I looked like a whale! I was practically in tears at DD and that has really been the kick up the backside I needed as it is MY problem and I should NOT be unburdening myself onto a 10 year old.
Anyway, I weighed myself this morning, fully braced for the result, and it actually wasn't as bad as it might have been, as I am the exact same weight as I was when I started SW 6 years ago. So I need to lose a stone and a half, maybe a tad more. I was thinking I might be up to half a stone heavier, so that has started me off quite well, as I guess a lot of people underestimate their weight.
I tend to do mostly green days - maybe a red day a week absolute tops, as I am a carb junkie. I hate quorn with a passion (it makes me physically sick) so I have a lot of spuds, pasta, rice and mostly use my HEBs for a little taste of meat. I'm not a big chocolate fan, but I love crisps/snacks (they are my downfall!) and have the odd glass of wine but a bottle lasts me 4 days, so not too deadly.
A bit cheeky, on my first post in the thread, but I have a couple of questions.
First, how many syns are there in tesco value crisps. I get them in for DD to have occasionally after school, and if I am desperate they may just do for that "I must have something salty and crunchy" moment. I'm safer to try and stay clear, though, I think.
Second, I like to make chicken soup with homemade stock. I put the stock in the fridge overnight and scrape the fat off the top to leave just the jelly, and then make a yum soup with rice or barley in it. How many syns do you reckon in this stock? And would it have to be synned on a green day as it's meat juices, or could I use it for a green day soup?
Looking forward to getting to know you all.0 -

Thanks Kelly, it's nice to actually hear from someone thats in the same boat. It does get frustrating the slow weight loss, but the main thing is sticking at it. Also you are so right that I would not think badly if it were a friend/relative that has had a couple of naughtie days, like you say I'd pat them on the back for how well they'd done so far and tell them to get back to it tomorrow.
