Can anyone tell me if you can have wholemeal muffins as an heb?In the book it lists all the smaller loaf slices you can have and also says 57g of ANY wholemeal bread except pitta. So surely that means I could have a wholemeal muffin?!As long as it was the right weight of course.
CONSULTANT 31 - do you know?!

The recipe for wholemeal muffins is very different from the one for wholemeal bread. Muffins are classed as cakes, not bread...........sorry :(
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

No these are savoury english muffins, like a cross between a crumpet and a bread roll, sort of anyway!Lovely with some bacon and a poached egg on top.Like McD's except nice!!!!!:rotfl:

Ooh crossed post, sorry. Have you got a nutritional list for the muffins?

Found this online ( http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/english-muffins,1588,RC.html) and the recipe is similar to a bread recipe, but if they're shop bought, who knows how they're made???

To be safe, I would say no, they can't be counted as a HEB. Perhaps a call to SW head office may be the best thing.

  • I (moons ago) made my own wholemeal muffins (english style) and used an almost identical recipe to that of wholemeal bread - the main difference is the way they are cooked - on a hob rather than in an oven....

IMHO I would say that if they were the correct weight I can't see why they aren't OK.

edit - that'll be the opposite advice from C31 then :D !!! If you are planning on eating them twice a day, every day, then it would be wise to check first. Once in a while? I'd go for it

    Afternoon fellow SW'ers

I did the diet a few years ago (when you could snack on corned beef and make lasagna with canned macaroni cheese), but as the weight is creeping on, I thought I'd give it another whirl as it's the one "diet" I can actually stick to

I'm hoping to lose a stone and a half, and would appreciate your support

our leader says we can have ONE cornbeef quiche during the week on a red day

ive done this since i started 18wk ago and never had a gain

No not opposite advice cos I freely admit I don't actually know - I've never made them and apart from the delia recipe I linked to, I have no idea how they're made. If, as you say, the recipe is the same, then I can't see a reason for not having them.

The thing with me is, as a SW Consultant, I tend not to endorse anything which isn't in the book. Muffins aren't mentioned as a HEB, but that could just be because nobody has asked the right questions before. If you contact head office, they can check and let you know the definitive answer.

  • Thanks Angie, that was my thought process too.Consultant 31,fear not,I will be on the phone to them 1st thing monday.I understand your caution. They work out at 67g and 7 syns on both which makes think 1 heb and 1 syn.I'm gonna risk it tomorrow cos I'm really gagging for 1:D !But I will syn it for now.On a red tomorrow anyway so will save my hebs for porridge and spuds on my roast. Will have a bacon ad egg muffin for lunch when there's no one in the house to hear my lips smacking together or the drool hitting the floor!!!!!!!:rotfl:

....are these boiled chickpeas baked / rolled in marminte and baked (I'm sure my consultant mentioned something along these lines as free on green days) ?

Can't say they appeal to me personally :o and I also think we could be heading into another 'misuse of foods' conversation....

...or are they something else entirely? :rotfl:
  • not sure if its been posted but I wanted to share the Alpen Light choc & orange in my Tesco were down to £1.50ish. Nice surprise for me. So I got 10 boxes! (I have 4 a day as my HEBs)
  • i did them this way...

    boiled for 4 mins

    covered in fry light

    salt and pepper

    cooked in oven

and i only ate them on a green day and had one tin, lol
