Hi all - I've recently started going to SW classes again and it's going well so far. I was very successful with SW, losing 7 stone in 18 months from when I first joined in 2001, but I've managed to re-gain 5 stone since then, an average of 1 stone per year. Part of this was down to over-confidence on my part, thinking I could maintain without going to class, and partly because of a family crisis, which thankfully is all behind me now.
Having followed the plan before, I knew that I needed to make sure I was doing it strictly 'by the book' so I've been keeping a food diary and checking everything I eat and drink, before it passes my lips. I even discovered that I'd been counting Stilton as a HEa before, and it isn't! It's a HEb, but only on green days.
Anyway, enough waffling! I hope you don't mind me joining in.

consultant31 wrote: »Hi and welcome to the thread and to Slimming World. I do hope you'll try for a little longer at your group especially as you seem to be getting the support you need.
If the existing members seem to be a little clique-y, it's often because they are having such fun with the other regulars that they forget their manners a little. Why don't you go sit next to someone and introduce yourself, I'm sure you'll be made welcome. I have had new members who sit 3 chairs away from the nearest exisiting member as though they don't want to mingle -sending out the wrong vibes maybe - but if you smile and appear friendly I'm sure someone will be only too willing to chat.
Good luck with your weight loss and well done so far. I am biased I know, but I firmly believe that unless you're very disciplined, it's only too easy to lose the plot when you try to go it alone. Meanwhile, we're here for extra support as and when needed.
Thank you for the advice, I'll make more of an effort myself and see what comes of it, some of the ladies do seem lovely and I guess I should just be more pushy I guess :hello:
I'm going to try the Cheese and Spinach Cannelloni tonight, I've heard great things...it sounds so yummy!
Has anyone made the baked cheesecakes? Chocolate or Vanilla? Any reviews?

200g tin extra lean corned beef
1 large onion, sliced
1 red pepper, chopped
Dash Worcestershire sauce,
Salt & pepper,
Sprinkle of herbs if liked,
4 eggs,
Very low fat natural cottage cheese,
Sliced tomatoes to top.
Slice the corned beef (easier if it’s been in the fridge for a couple of hours).
Layer in a large quiche dish, alternating beef, onion and red pepper.
Mix eggs with cottage cheese and W. sauce and pour over the dish.
Cook in medium oven for 30 mins. Place slices of tomato on top and cook for a further 15 mins until set and golden.
Eat hot or cold.
That's looks great - thanks for that!0 -
Hi - we've just had homemade quiche for lunch.
Here's how I did mine today (it varies) This serves 4 with some over.
6 eggs (beaten)
6 slices unsmoked bacon (chopped)
6 slices wafer thin ham (chopped)
1 Pepper (sliced)
1 small courgette (sliced)
Few Spring onions or red onion (chopped)
Salt & Pepper
Herbs (Optional)
Teaspoon mustard (optional)
Few mushrooms (sliced)
500g Very low fat Cottage Cheese
Beat eggs, salt & Pepper and herbs together. Stir in mustard and Cottage Cheese.
Lightly fry (in Frylight) onions, courgettes, pepper, bacon & mushrooms.
Put into large flan dish with the ham. Pour egg mixture over and cook at 200 C for approx 30 mins. You can add sliced tomatoes to the top if you like before cooking. I like it best almost cool - so leave for at least an hour.
Oooh, two recipes to try - thanks!0 -
Anyone got a recipe for Risotto? Got some arborito rice and a bit of leftover chicken from tomorrow. I'm guessing arborito is ok on green day?0
-
Do you know how to make risotto, or would you like it step by step?
If you know the basics, I would use an onion, garlic and celery base. add the rice, then the stock (s-l-o-w-l-y!) adding the chopped chicken, some peas and some chopped fresh parsley (or tarragon would be lovely, or thyme....) towards the end.
A healthy extra of grated parmesan would make all the difference if added before serving0
