well, im back from my wi, and lost half a pound. a bit disappointed but i have been so bloated all week, i feel like a blimp!

has anyone any tips on how to beat the bloated feeling? I know Ive had more green days than red this last week, so that could be a factor. ive also not been drinking enough water either. if anyone has any advice it would be really appreciated :o
FIRST of all moosetastic well done :T :T :T , its going the right way hun OFF, like i said to tg , the day before weighing i go red and hit the tonic water , give it a try  .
I think its a mental block i have , i used to go mad the night before , i'd get really hungry and eat say , egg on toast and then fruit , yoghurt, and say half an hour later a big bowl of quorn spaghetti bolognese , then later a roast dinner and later a big rice pudding , and still have treats , and i know you can eat what iv'e got on here but i'd go mad and eat really big amounts and wonder why i'd stayed the same , my body hadn't diegested what i'd had to eat ,that quickly when i got weighed at 9.30 in the morning , it was all the pasta and rice , i was bloated , peachy x

Well done - a loss is a loss, and even half a pound means you're going in the right direction. :T

Make sure you're getting enough fibre, and drink plenty of water. Peppermint tea is very good for the digestive system and I often drink it when I'm feeling a bit bloated or sluggish.

I have found that SWEET FENNEL tea is also good for this and it is also a diuretic so help get rid of the water retention, tastes nice too

Can someone tell me if you can use the hi-fi bars as a healthy extra, and which extra if so. I know they are 6 syns each.

It's really frustrating when you know you're doing all the right things but it isn't working. Have you tried varying what you eat? It's really easy to keep eating the same things, I do it myself, but sometimes it works to have a week where you try lots of new and different things. If you always have cereal for breakfast, try having a cooked breakfast instead - quorn sausages, beans on toast, bacon and eggs - it takes a bit more time to prepare but you could save a HEb for later.

This week I've experimented with having more high fibre HEbs and counting them as syns - for example 57g of dried figs is a satisfying sweet treat, with lots of fibre, so hopefully speeding up my digestive system too. :)

Good luck with the WI - it's mine tonight too.

Please don't let it get you down - this happens from time to time for no good reason.
Like LL says, vary your food as much as possible (if you usually have red days, incorporate some green ones).
Have different HEBs every day if you can.
Drink lots of water (lots and lots is even better, lol).
If you normally have bread, white pasta and white rice, try cutting the bread out and having brown pasta and rice for a week (especially cutting the bread).
When you first start to exercise it seems that you may hold extra water for a week or two so this will appear to be a maintain (or even a gain) BUT your
body should be looking particularly lithe and lovely so grab a tape measure and nip it round the curves........I bet you've lost inches ;)

Stick with it, you know it works and you'll get to target if you don't stray :D

Edited to say sorry, I seem to have given much the same advice as others further back in the thread (just goes to show it's true though!)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I really should add my weight loss to my sig :o

Both me and OH go to SW class, and we've both lost 19 lbs between us in 8 weeks. Has anyone noticed that they spend more on food when healthy eating? I managed to spend £160 a month earlier this year and last month, spent £300  on food. Add the weekly class fees, although we have a countdown, it's sure adding up!

I need some help with recipes that don't cost the earth so I'm trawling through the recipes. Thanks to anyone who has posted these. If you guys have any others, please let me know or I'll be heading to the Bankruptcy board.....

Skint_catt - I also have wii fit. It's so addictive and we're so competitive that we're always trying to knock each other off the number 1 spot :rotfl:

    Thanks LL and C31.

I do drink lots of water - 1litre between starting work and lunchbreak, then diet coke most of the afternoon and evening finishing with a cuppa before bed.

I do tend to always have a 'free' cooked brekkie every morning as I like to save my HEb's for 'just in case' or a hi-fi bar in the evening. Might have to buy some cereal but I don't find it as filling. I do eat lots of fruit through the day too.

I've done nearly all red days this week as usually I live on green and still hasn't worked :( Its hard watching my OH eat crisps and drink lots of lovely red wine when I know I can't have any if I want to stay within my syns.

I do try not to eat bread as I know from previously doing SW that I lost LOADS when I gave it up - hasn't happened this time though I have probably less than 1 slice a week on average. If I'm having different foods I'm going to start having to have bread again to vary - things on toast, sarnies (haven't had a sarnie in nearly 4 months!) etc.

So frustrating because I 'seem' to be doing everything right inc the exercise which I've never done before (yes it is addictive!!) other than varying my foods. Very down at the mo generally so its just one more thing to kick myself with. :(:(:(

(I did lose 1lb at WI tonight, but a) more luck than anything I think as my scales & WiiFit show no loss and b) I know that I still won't lost the next 2.5lbs to get below the next stone which I've been wanting for sooooooooo long.)

Thanks Peachy and Nessa, ive never tried fennel tea before, might have to give it a try. And Peachy, I never thought about not eating a lot on a Sunday, this Sunday I totally pigged out on green day stuff, no wonder I still weighed a ton! :rotfl: I invested in a big bottle today so I know Ive drank over 2 litres already, it really does make a difference. I got a bottle of NAS dilute as well, that makes the water go down a treat.
You're so very special, I wish I was special
