Is there a tried and tested quiche recipe you use? I made one, but the mixture was too runny and I had a vegetable sludge rather than quiche

Corned Beef Quiche (4 syns on Red)

200g tin extra lean corned beef
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 red pepper, chopped
    Dash Worcestershire sauce,
    Salt & pepper,
    Sprinkle of herbs if liked,
    4 eggs,
Very low fat natural cottage cheese,
    Sliced tomatoes to top.

Slice the corned beef (easier if it’s been in the fridge for a couple of hours).
Layer in a large quiche dish, alternating beef, onion and red pepper.
Mix eggs with cottage cheese and W. sauce and pour over the dish.
Cook in medium oven for 30 mins. Place slices of tomato on top and cook for a further 15 mins until set and golden.

    Eat hot or cold.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Tiramisu from the Lifeline Online Site.

Serves 4, 6 syns on Original and Green:

    Ingredients:
    ½ vanilla pod
225g/9oz very low-fat natural fromage frais
    8 Boudoir Biscuits
    255g/9oz low-fat custard
    142ml/quarter pt very strong coffee
    2 level tbsps cocoa powder
    1 level tsp grated chocolate

    Method

    1. Deseed the vanilla pod, discard the pod and mix the seeds with the fromage frais in a large bowl. Fold in the custard and set aside.

    2. Dip the boudoir biscuits into the strong coffee and place 2 biscuits in the bottom of 4 serving glasses. (2 biscuits in each glass).

    3. Spoon the custard mixture over the biscuits, sprinkle with the cocoa powder and top with a little finely grated chocolate.

Tip: Add a dash of brandy to the coffee mixture. 2½ syns per 25 ml.

This would be a lovely dessert to serve guests.

consultant31 and anyone else here who knows...

chickpea nuts, can you eat these freely?

I'm sorry but, as Angie suspected, these are classed as misuse of foods. It's ok to have a few now and again, but eaten in larger amounts freely, they will slow down your weight loss to an unacceptable level.

If you're eating enough at mealtimes, you shouldn't need to have much in the way of snacks between meals - perhaps it's time to rethink your meals and have more free foods.

missy321 - do you drink much water? If not, try to up your intake to 2½ litres a day - it really does help to fill you up besides all the wonderful benefits like clearer skin, healthy kidneys etc.

Pad out your meals with extra veg (for instance, a salad would have made your jacket & beans more satisfying) and make sure you have your HEBs (I don't see much on the menu plan you gave). If you have Fruit & Fibre you should also have a Scan Bran to ensure you're getting the correct amount of fibre.

    Hi missy,

Scan Bran is a very fibrous crispbread which can be bought in group and also from Holland & Barrett - they are not wonderfuly tasty, and my feeling is that it would be worth choosing a different cereal just so you don't have to have the Scan Bran, lol.

HEBs on a green day - there are a huge selection of HEBs to pick from. I tend to have prawns with my salad or even in a jacket potato as 1 HEB (or you can have a measured amount of most meats. You can have nuts and/or seeds, wholemeal bread, canned or cooked fruit etc, etc). The other could be your cereal if you still want it, though I would choose a different one......Weetabix Crunchy Bran is nice and you get 42gms or I love Shreddies (28gms) with hot milk.

Free foods - jacket potato (yum) with baked beans or cottage cheese and a huge salad (that's my all-time favourite lunch). I make the pasta quiches quite a lot and my own tomato based sauce for pasta (passatta, onion, garlic & basil). I make a SW friendly fried rice using FryLight, pre-cooked rice, chopped onion, peas and egg. We regularly have a roast dinner (again using Frylight for the potatoes and parsnips) with lots of veg and a measured amount of meat. SW chips of course (how could I nearly forget them!!) with mushy peas and a runny egg (oh my, I'm drooling) all completely free.
Honestly, I could go on and on.

If you can, I would join a group, get the books and a proper grounding from the Consultant in how it works. It will be much cheaper than buying from eBay. If you find it doesn't suit you, for whatever reason, to keep going to the group, you won't have to but at least you'll have the knowledge to carry on alone (with support from here).
