Hi KBB,
I took a diuretic for a short while, bought from the health food shop (based on dandelion I think), and taken for other reasons than weight loss... but I did notice a note on the bottle indicating that many slimmers used them.
They are basically for dealing with water retention - they certainly work! After about a week I was constantly on the loo . Probably helped lose a bit of water-based-weight, but of course with all these things, it is only temporary, and when you stop, you lose the advantages....
I gave up taking them after that - the benefits for me didn't outweigh the advantages0 -
'Kelly, I'd echo Flat Eric - supplements shouldn't be necessary. If they really worked, they'd be on prescription and none of us would be over-weight'
CONSULTANT 31 - There are drugs available on prescription to aid weight loss but they still recommend exercise and a restricted diet, and I think you have to be very overweight to get them. However if these were offered to me I would NOT take them as I believe these synthetic 'medications' are actully the ones to be afraid of!
To be honest,I'm a bit of a vitimin/supplement junkie and take quite a few for different reasons, including St. John's Wort to stave off depression.I don't believe most people get the true amount of vits/minerals they need to run at their optimum through their diet for 2 reasons.Firstly most people just don't eat a varied or healthy enough diet!Secondly, even if they did, most soil is now extremely nutrient deficient as a result of intensive farming methods so therefore the produce also contains less nutrients.
With the exception of vit a and iron toxicity,if you take more nutients than you need into your body the worst thing that will happen is you'll waste your money when you wee them out!!!!:T:jHalf a stone off, only another 2 to go!:j:T:D;)Cats are truly evil, like women....;):D:p

Anyway back to the point of my question. If I have a red day tomorrow, I can only have at most 400g odd of potatoes to make jacket chips to go with my burgers so should I have a green day meaning I can have endless jacket chips and have the burgers as my HEB option? I have never known how to syn potato if it is possible?
Hi Flat Eric -
Essentailly you make a choice based on what is more important to you......
lots of chips, limited burger (green), or
Lots of burger/bacon etc and limited chips (red).....
Remember, 400g of potatoes goes quite a long way depending on the size that you cut your chips into - long, fat and chunky, less chips - short and thin, loadsa chips!
As an aside, I have started to crinkle cut my SW chips (with my ancient crinkle cutter) as it makes them extra crispy!!! yummmmmmmy0 -

Is Oriental Express the brand?I looked under uncle Ben's for you but there's no chinese chicken, and no listing at all for 'oriental express'.You might have to use the syn calculator, unless it's in the directory, which I don't have!:T:jHalf a stone off, only another 2 to go!:j:T:D;)Cats are truly evil, like women....;):D:p

Kelly, i agree with you regarding the lack of vitamins and minerals in our intensively exploited soils. There was something out in the news relatively recently about vegetables containing far fewer nutrients than back in the 50s before intensive agriculture was the norm.
I sometimes take vitamin supplements or 'tonics' to give me a boost in the winter but not anything specifically aimed at slimmers. Could you try that super speedy week that jasperbrowndog did recently (can't remember the name off hand)?0
