Hi Nearly-30
I think if you keep the skin on the potato and make SW chips it counts as a he B because of the fibre but if you take the skin of you have to syn it.
For lunch, you could try something thats always mentioned on here a mugshot (its like a cross between a cup a soup and a pot noodle) and the noddle ones are free on green days
Since you have a microwave, you could try Quorn suprising low fat fatja strips free both days and take 2 mins in the m/wave, I bring salad and add them to it much more filling than rabbit food on its own!
You can cook a piece of salmon in the microwave in 2 mins which I didn't know before I read the packet of some tesco fresh salmon which is handy too. you need to add 2 tbsp of water and it kind of steams0 -

Thanks very much Flat Eric!
You see, that's what I'm missing - you knew that Heinz Mean Beanz italian were no syns. I've just looked them up on the Slimmign world online, however the Mean Benz something else (Sweet chilli??) has syn value?!
Also, isn't Stag chilli quite high in syns?
The Stagg chilli silverdale beef is 4.5 syns on green and 11 on red
The Stagg Vegetable Garden is 3 syns on green and 10 on red. The only place I have found the silverdale version is tesco at £2 per tin or Morrisons at £1.49 per tin. The silverdale chilli has a higher meat content than the normal stagg chilli.
The Heinz Mean Beanz Italian, Mexican, Smoky BBQ, Sweet Chilli are all free - the other varieties - Jalfrezi, Thai and Tikka all have syn values of various amounts. The Mean Beanz have much more flavour I find than ordinary beans.
I agree the Stagg Chilli is high in syns buts it not overly bad on a green day option and makes for a filling meal if you combine it with jackets. If I had a couple of jackets for lunch with the stagg silverdale chilli for example then eggs, jacket chips and ham as a HEB option for my tea with mullerlights and fruit for breakfast then the only thing i would have to syn would be the chilli at 4.5. which is not bad.
One thing that can be handy to do is as and when you do any food shopping, get yourself a bunch of white stickers and write on each food item, the syn value for both days. That way, you can pull something out of the cupboard and know exactly how many syns (if applicable) you are about to consume!0 -
Hi everyone,
Thank you for your kind words. I'm on earlies today, tomorrow and friday which means leaving the flat around 0345 for the 0420 train (always like to add a bit extra in early morning just incase) yuk. And as I don't usually work that early I cant get to sleep any earlier really (well my excuse last night was I had WI!)
Today has been an odd day.......... started off tired and tearful at work, met up with someone for a coffee after work and then met Mr Scroogey to go to boxercise I've been looking forward to it all week........... Well by god it was hard and it hit home how unfit and fat I am. But We loved the boxing bits, not so the jogging, star jumps, press ups, crunches etc. We struggled a bit there, I spoke to the instructor at the end about it though, and she said we'd done really well for our first time and any bits we struggle with, to give her a shout and she'll come and give us some alternatives. Afterwards we sat and we just winding down with some water and she over to us and told us again how well we'd done, and added make sure you go home and eat lots your body will need it. So pasta for tea with leftover veg and a pasta sauce and a bit of feta. Was lovely! But it made me more determined to go back next week and whilst I may have been the fattest person there and struggled tonight, If I stick at it will become easier and I'll become slimmer. And there was someone I knew there, who had started last week so on the weeks Mr Scroogey can't go I'll have someone to talk to. :T
And again I'm not feeling so drained tonight, but I reckon tomorrow is when I'll suffer!0 -
Retired lady, the liquorice thing rings a bell. I think the stuff is foul myself so wasn't paying complete attention but I do think it was mentioned that it was now free. The stuff I think they were on about was the kind you get in Holland and Barrett or Julian Graves.
Have you checked Syns online? I'd imagine that's where you'd get the most up to date info.0 -
Hmm, Panda licorice isn't free, unfortunately, it's 5 syns for a 32g bar. I love the stuff!0

Well done Scroogey - if you keep going to that class I might have to call you Scary Scroogey  ! Boxercise sounds like hard work, so well done for going and working so hard! Sounds like you deserved that pasta for tea :T0

I do think it will be hard for you learning from the book only. The basic are as follows:-
1 - Each day have lots (and I do mean lots) of free food - no weighing or measuring necessary.
2 - You should have 1 or 2 HEAs (healthy extra 'A' choices) and 2 HEBs (healthy extra 'B' choices) each day in order to get all the nutrition you need (ie: calcium and fibre). Weigh/measure HEs carefully.
3 - Have between 5 and 15 syns a day (count the red figures if you're having a red day and the green if you having a green day). Try not to go over 15 and equally, try not to have less than 5. Weigh syns carefully if necessary.
4 - Try to have at least 2½ litres of water a day (you can have sugar-free squash if you like).
This is not a diet, it's a healthy eating plan which you are meant to live with for ever. There are no prizes for a speedy result - the prize is life-long, effortless weight control after losing 1lb to 2lb a week.
Hope this helps.
Thank you very much. Ok here is what I have had today.
cocopops and semiskimmed milk - breakfast
lettace, cucumber, celery, cheese a bit of primula and slices of cheddar, tomatoes and 2 crackers. Then 2 frubes adna glass of blackcurrant watered down juice - lunch
tea - jacket, marg, cheese and a whole carrot
supper - 1 peice of bread with salmon and vinegar, apple and kit kat.0
