  • :hello: hi flat eric, good to have you back.

i think you might be surprised at how many items on your list are available at your local blue and white,if it's a big one,IYKWIM?!(ooh er,missus!)as for the rest,a caribbean or asian store should be able to provide a lot of them.i don't know where you live but even in my rubbish, not remotely diverse little town we have a really good ethnic food store that's just opened.

ooh,and a top tip for really cheap seafood is your local chinese supermarket, great big blocks of tiger prawns unbelievably cheap.and if you eat them on a red day you can wolf the lot down!!!:rotfl: :T

well done all you fab losers too,you are ALL wonderful.just say it to yourself every now and then.YOU DON'T HAVE TO BELIEVE IT!not to start with anyway!!!:D just say it and eventually you might start to feel it for real.....
    :T:jHalf a stone off,only another 2 to go!:j:T

    Was 11 st 5,now 10 st 7,would like to be....9 stone

Anyway, I have looked through my food directory and made a list of possible choices but I am intrigued by all the food items that I have never heard of before such as:
    jambu fruit
    jujube
    karela
    kiwano
    kohlrabi
    kumquats
    medlars
    ortaniques
    okra
    radicchio
    salsify
    sa podilla
    ugli fruit
    rambutan
    tayberries
    vine leaves
    tamarilllos
    rambutan
    sauerkraut
    prickly pears
    physalis
    mangosteen
    mammie apple
    loquats
    grendillas

now somehow I dont think Im going to find the above in my local blue and white supermarket so where do you think I can get hold of the above?

Oh, you are going to have fun with that list :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Lets see if I can help with a few.....

kohlrabi - wait til late summer / autumn, you'll find it at allotments as it is easy to grow and a bit like turnip to eat
medlars -mmmmmm - fruit, I make a curd with it, but you have to wait til the fruit is 'bletted' (almost rotten and soft) before you eat it. bit of an aquired taste this one :)
okra - also called 'ladies fingers' used in indian cookery, good for stir fries, tasty
radicchio - a bitter (salad) leaf - you may even see this one in the supermarket!!
salsify - grow it if you want it
ugli fruit - cross between an orange and a grapefruit - yummy
vine leaves - you can get these in jars, greek
tamarilllos - I have been looking for these for a while - green tomatoes used in mexican cooking - let me know if you find a source!!
sauerkraut - in large jars, pickled cabbage, found in supermarkets, often top shelf:D
physalis - YUM! - little orange fruits about the size of a cherry tomato hidden with attractive papery leaves, often used as a garnish on posh puddings in restaurants. Also called a cape gooseberry.

There - solved a few mysteries for you!!!!

We should do our top ten foods or recipey we like and list them , or what we make and eat all the time , on green & red  , this will give us all a chance to see if we all stick to the same things

They had them in Asda reduced from 78p to 25p - they look like a Chinese Lantern with a little orange in the middle. Thought I would give them a go and they were yuk, yuk, yuk

Hello everyone - hope you don't mind a question from a long time lurker? I have been going to Slimming World for quite a while now and so far have lost 7.5 stone - still have about 12 stone to go but it is "a work in progress"! I do post occasionally on Losing Weight 22.

At class yesterday 2 members who have friends/relatives who attend other classes (two different classes) reported back that they had been told by their consultants that liquorice is now free!!?? obviously not allsorts, but proper liquorice. Our consultant had not heard that and I know that licquorice is 1/2 syn per piece. I love licquorice and would love to be able to eat it as a free food.

    Has anyone else heard this?

    Thanks
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!

I have this morning made the smiley face flan which featured on page 71 of the July 2008 Slimming World mag.

Im just waiting for the oven to beep to see how successful it is!

I customised mine and instead of just the pepper, spring onions and bacon it mentions in the mag, I included

1 green pepper, 1 red pepper, 1 baby corgette, some mushrooms, 1 chili, 1 small red onion, 1 white onion, 1 pack of sainsburys bacon medalions, 1 bunch of spring onions, some chili flakes mixed in with the quark mixture! I think thats it!

Will give the taste verdict later....
