Hi Mel,
I know how you feel, I reckon I was at pretty much rock bottom before I joined. I hated how I looked and felt but was avoiding doing anything about it. I joined with a friend and we'd been putting it off for months.
In the last few weeks before we joined I'd developed a pretty serious problem in that I'd go into Mcdonalds on my way home if I knew I was going home to an empty flat. Then I order 2 value meals and either a couple of double cheeseburgers or those Mozzerella dipper thingys. Then I'd go home and eat the lot and dump the wrappers down the rubbish chute so the OH wouldn't know. I did the same thing with Pringles etc.
The last time I was in Macdonalds was the night I joined SW. Me and my mate went for a "last meal" before we joined. I have to walk past the same one everyday on the way to and from work and sometimes I find it hard, but then I think of all the wonderful free food I can have when I get in. I find going to group helps me, the routine of it and I actually look forward to it.
I suppose what I am trying to say is I know how hard it was to make that first step but I'm so glad I did. I know if I was just trying to do this at home by myself I wouldn't have lost anywhere near as much but you've got to do what you think will work best for you.0 -

Thanks skint catt.
My main meals for the kids is lasagne and spag bol. But the lasagne has so much cheese sauce in it i don't know how to replace that.
Also they love chips, i tried the slimming world ones but they came out very soggy, think i need to leave them to dry out a bit more.
Its my HM bread with lashings of butter i am missing and my cheese and crackers!! but i'm ploughing away at my strawberries and have bought in lots of mullerlights and low fat fromage frais and that quark stuff (not sure what to do with that?)0 -
mrsbez here is some uses for quark for you http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=2165960&postcount=440

Spag bol is free on green if you make it with Quorn mince instead of meat and cook it the bol from scratch. Lasagne's a little more difficult, but again with quorn mince (they won't notice) its free on green and a 'normal' portion shouldn't contain too much cheese.
I love a tub of quark with one spoonful of mayo (syn the mayo) and a few cloves of crushed garlic. The whole tub is free and lasts for days after you've synned the mayo. Quark is also good mixed with chilies and stuffed inside chicken breasts (free on red) :j
I find SW chips take AGES to cook but worth it - and I don't let mine dry out for long - just make sure you keep spraying them with fry light. They cook quicker if you freeze them after the par boiling stage - then you have free quick frozen oven chips!0 -
Thanks for the moral support girls...I will do it, I will do it.
I could do with a holiday or some kind of goal to aim for, I think.

How about your birthday or Christmas? I'm trying to break my weight loss into little targets as I have so much to lose. I told someone when I first started I wanted to lose a stone before I go on holiday in august she commented the other day that I almost done with weeks to spare (cos at that point I was on 13lb)
My next target it is a total of 2 stone off by my 30th in september.
After that I'll probably think of something for Christmas.
Another thing I'm doing is giving myself rewards when I reach each stone (and persuading the OH to do something for me!) So for my stone I have OH doing some housework with just a pinny on for 80 minutes and there is and eeyore bowl in the disney store for £6. I really liked it but would never normally spend that much on just a bowl, but told myself once I'd got my stone I'd treat myself to it.
I have to think of something different for the 2 stone mark, but may get myself an eeyore mug or something.
It's very early days for me so far, but these little things I find are helping my along.
Along with the support of you guys of course:D
I hope that gives you some ideas Mel, and I'm sure you can do it even if you think you can't, I'm astonished at my willpower and restraint these days and would never have believed you if you'd told me a few months ago my lack of intake of chips/crisps/chocolate/burgers etc.
And you know what? I don't even miss them!
