I wasn't aware the potato had to have skin on for a red day, ooops0
-
The skin is the fibre that allows potato to be an HeB on a red day. Not usually a bother - you can keep it on just as easily for 'chips', wedges, mash, boiled and obviously baked.
No potato skin = not a lot of fibre = have to count as syns (1syn/oz) on red0 -
If you want sausage and mash have a green day then you don't have to worry about the mash and you could have Quorn sausages or ther Morrisons eat smart pork - free on red and only 3 syns on each on green.

Thanks for your words of wisdom, consultant31, but you didn't spot that I'm doing Fast Forward this week! You're right, there's no way I would eat this little normally!!!
Pennylane, I was really interested to read your musings, I have been coming to some similar conclusions myself. Especially with doing FF this week, I have been amazed at how apparently very small portions of food are adequate. I think I will definitely keep on weighing portions after I reach my target, certainly for things like cheese. I think an ounce of cheese is plenty for a piece of cheese on toast, or for grating on your pasta. I have been having far too much of most things for too long.
I have done four days of Fast Forward now, only three to go!
This is my food today:
B: 6oz strawberries + 7 level tbsp very low fat natural yogurt
1 banana
L: Salad leaves, 8 cherry tomatoes, 1.5oz feta, 7 olives, mini pitta
Snacks: apple, 2 satsumas
T: 8oz jacket potato, 7 oz tesco spicy beans, salad leaves, 4oz cucumber 2 celery sticks, low sugar jelly, 8 strawberries. I could have had 1/2 pepper and 2 level tbsp aerosol cream but I didn't have those in.
I was fine this afternoon as I had my fruit for a snack, but the dinner wasn't as filling tonight and I am a bit hungry now. I have had a big glass of squash and I'm okay, but I'd love another snack! I WILL be strong! I WILL BE STRONG!!!
The weekend may be the most difficult time, but it's all planned out so there's no reason to go off the rails. We are having a couple round for dinner tomorrow night, but luckily she does SW as well so won't think I'm a freak when I weigh out my mange tout! I am just going to do the same meal for everyone but double, triple or maybe quadruple the quantities for the others!
Wish me luck!0 -

I wonder if you could answer a question for me. I joined in Feb and have lost 1 st 1 lb so far. My son is getting married in September, and I really need to start looking for an outfit, but am worried that if I lose another stone, it won't fit.
I am 5 ft 3 and weigh 11 st 10 lbs, so know I have lots more to lose, but could I set a target now so that I can stay at this weight until after the wedding, then start again ?
Yes, that's fine, you could continue going to group as a free target member. However, when you're ready to restart and set a lower target, you would have to rejoin at the normal price (currently £9.50).
Congratulations on the forthcoming wedding - have a lovely day!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Ooh no, sorry I hadn't realised that. I know it's restrictive and I think you're very brave tackling it (personally I'd rather poke my eyes out, lol).I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I can't wait to see how much you lose brownjasperdog! Recently I've cut down my portions too (not quite that much!) and I eat if I'm hungry, but think about whether I am or not before I eat anything - I think thats why I've kick started my loss again and done 5.5lbs in two weeks after being stuck for 5 months!0

Yes, I'm dying to get on the scales, but I won't because if I'm losing I might think I can cheat!
It has been very interesting letting myself experience a bit of hunger, instead of just stuffing my face whenever I sense I can squeeze a bit more in! Often the 'hunger' disappears and I go back to feeling full up again after a while. I've realised since I've been doing SW that I've been eating for comfort, when I'm bored, because it would go to waste, etc etc, rarely because I was actually hungry. I'm hoping after this week I will be better able to identify when I am actually hungry, and not eat all those other times.
Well done, Skint_Catt, that 5.5lbs is definitely a result! :T0 -
keep going BJD,you can do it!it's all down hill from here.....;)
i agree with you about the 'hunger' issue.many times my thinner friends will explain to me over dinner how they 'FORGOT' to eat lunch and are ravenous now and frankly i used to think they were barmy, lying or just had no lunch money that day!!!!however the less you think about anything the easier it is to forget about it,though i also understand that if you are on a very restricted diet you probably think about food a great deal.to be honest i'm 'hungry' right now but i have eaten adequately for the day and am off to bed so what is the point of eating now?i have to say i don't think anyone ever died from missing the odd meal or snack.i think the distraction technique works for me cos i tend to eat out boredom so i try and keep busy, just pottering about, maybe even preparing food for another meal but cos i'm occupied my stomach can't get any messages to my brain.
there's also the water trick.if you THINK you feel hungry, have a glass of water, wait 10 minutes then ask yourself again.if you still feel hungry do some activity for 10 minutes.anything at all - wash up/dance/put your c.d's in chronological order (ok,ok,that's probably just me! ) then ask yourself again.then and only then,if you still feel GENUINELY hungry, eat!it sounds a bit 'celeb' but for me personally i'd say only about 50% of the time do i actually feel hungry and eat anything.
best of luck for your last few days, and i can't wait to see how much you've lost too!!!!:T:jHalf a stone off, only another 2 to go!:j:T:D;)Cats are truly evil, like women....;):D:p
Was 11 st 5,now 10 st 7,would like to be....9 stone0 -
BJD - I can't wait to see how you do either!!!
Going back to my mublings ...
I have had so many friends fail BECAUSE they stick to the same old things on their diet or just eat so little that they absolutely ARE starving. So, bearing this in mind I eat and feel satisfied.
I just made lunch for my lot - they all had 2 large rolls each with ham and cheese, then they had tea and biscuits/sponge fingers. I had egg, bacon and mushrooms for breakfast and just had 3 Ryvita with ham and tomatoes and was still a bit hungry so I'm having a banana and some grapes.
Another thing which works for me - in the past if I tried to lose weight I detested weighing and measuring anything. So I have just weighed things the first week - (like my cereal) and find a pot/ramekin that size and I know now that's how much I can eat. Phsycological trickery again, but for me it works and the scales stay out of my sight!!0
