Thanks Charlies Mum. I think I've been good the rest of week, but also worried a few drinks I had last week may come back to haunt me! I used to eat a lot of bread/pizza etc before and never noticed this clogged up feeling before. Perhaps it was always there and I just didn't notice? Having my first green day today as I wanted to eat some beans in the hope they'd help!

    Still fingers crossed.

What about Fern Britton finally owning up to having a gastric band fitted then?

yeah i was really impressed with her attitude to healthier meals, sensible choices and a wee bit of exercise. I have always admired her and her steady weightloss, but do feel a bit cheated as I thought she was a "normal woman, one of us, trying to loose that stubborn weight".

    ho hum

TV presenter Fern Britton has admitted she had stomach surgery to help her lose weight.

The 50-year-old co-host of ITV's This Morning said she underwent gastric banding two years ago.

In a statement, Ms Britton said she was "very pleased" with the results but added she would not want to influence others to follow her lead.

The procedure helps reduce the stomach so only small meals can be eaten, but gives the impression of being full.

The star, who is married to celebrity chef Phil Vickery, has shed three stone over the last couple of years.

It had previously been reported that cycling, walking a family dog and eating less were the drivers behind the weight loss.

"As I know, many people are interested in my weight loss over the past two years," she said.

"As interest is so high, I am making public, as a personal choice, that I had a gastric band operation two years ago.
"I did this purely for myself and I would not wish to influence others to do the same. But for me it has worked and I am very pleased with the results."
Britton is not the only celebrity to have admitted to having the procedure. Presenter Anne Diamond revealed she too had had a gastric band fitted, but later revealed it had not worked as it was not fitted properly.

Sorry everyone, I've been AWOL from this thread most of the week as the kiddlies have been home.

I've been very good this week, in fact weighed myself AFTER eating my dinner tonight and my bathrooms scales showed me 4lb LIGHTER than at WI last week! So should get my 1.5lb tomorrow and hopefully my 2 stone and 10% the week after! :j

    Hi All,

I think it is disgusting, I have read her story's over the last few months, in papers and magazines and I just think to myself, how nice it would be to get paid to lie about myself which is basically what she has done, they don't do these interviews for free do they !!

I used to really like her, but for someone in the public eye to be so irresponsible especially, as she is a larger lady, she must have known that there would be a lot of people out there feeling really bad that they can't do as she has done, "just on eating sensibly and exercise".

    Absolustely disgusting in my opinion

i have only just heard about fern britton on here.i don't think having a gastric band fitted should be held against her.after all, you don't complete the charity cycle she did last year without ALOT of training and decent nutrition!:p she has never made any claims regarding her weight loss, just quietly got on with changing her life without the bandwagon fitness dvd and 'read about how i lost fifteen stone here' blah blah blah rubbish that all the other so-called celebrities do:mad: .so she had a helping hand?BIG DEAL!wouldn't we all like a little help?and isn't that why we come on here?!personally i admire her tremendously for taking responsibilty for her weight problem and then just getting on with it.i'm sure it wasn't a decision she took lightly, what with having kids and it being a dangerous op,and also the potential backlash from our lovely tabloid media!and as for cheating, gastric banding only makes your stomach smaller,it doesn't MAKE you stick to a healthy diet and it certainly doesn't help you with charity cycling training.quite the reverse i would have thought!it doesn't seem like it's made any difference to anne diamond or alison hammond and they had EVERY type of support going, they were even on celeb fit club so clearly if it was a miracle cure they'd be slim too by now.BUT THEY ARE NOT!they just continue to whine on about how it wasn't fitted properly,la la la,and they DID pretend they were trying to lose weight 'naturally' .the same way that sharon osborne 'reportly' still binges, vomits and has recently gained weight and she had hers fitted years ago.maybe hers has suddenly 'broken' too.......:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    :T :T :T GO,FERN,GO:T :T :T - that's what i say!keep up the good work and don't let the papers get you down!

well that's my rant over, feel much better now i've got that off my chest:D

as usual it is the papers and those ridiculous 'celeb' mags that have SPECULATED about her weight loss.

i really do wish people would learn to be more accepting of others.i also wish that they could read a 'news' article and spot whether it contained FACTS,OPINION or SPECULATION cos there is a MASSIVE difference between 'em.

   AS FAR AS I HAVE READ SHE HAS NEVER MADE ANY CLAIMS ABOUT HOW SHE LOST WEIGHT!

if anyone can confirm differently to me i'd be grateful if they could post it for me to read.

the ONLY time she has spoken about it at all is now, probably having been forced to in order to stave off another 'pull them down' headline from some half witted tabloid journalist with no real news to report,or no readers that have an interest in it......:D

I love Fern too!! She does look great though now, doesn't she!

Well, been quite good this weekend - did have a curry again (veg rogan - small portion - please can someone let me know the syns for this on green? It drives me mad not knowing  ) - had it with plain rice and a Tia Maria and diet coke! This diet has made me rediscover all the spirits I had forgottom I love! Tia Maria being the favourite!! I have tried to stop weighing myself as much........twice a day (morning as soon as I got up after a big wee ;) and about 6.30pm - WI time) was a bit excessive :rotfl: . Haven't even stepped on the scales today. Also have introduced some prunes (HEB) into my diet to help with being a bit more regular (seems to be a side effect of SW for me!!). Lol - they do work!! TMI?? :rotfl:

Anyway, tractorgirl- sounds promising for a good loss this week! :T

I have tried to add a signature - lets see if it appears............
